Job summary

MCC20 DEVELOPMENT & CONSTRUCTION (M) SDN BHD is seeking a BIM Coordinator/Modeler/Drafter to develop and maintain accurate BIM models and construction drawings at our Bukit Jalil office, with occasional travel to the Kapar site for measurements and coordination.

You will work closely with project managers, engineers and subcontractors to ensure models and drawings are coordinated and compliant with BEP and LOD requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural/architecture/construction management or building technology.
• 2–3 years of BIM modelling, drafting or construction industry experience.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD; knowledge of Navisworks or Tekla is an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil and M&E drawings.
• Willingness to travel to Kapar site and own transport is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a BIM Coordinator, BIM Modeler or Drafter, you will develop, coordinate and maintain accurate Building Information Modelling (BIM) models and technical construction drawings. Working closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and site personnel, you will help ensure that drawings, models and construction details are accurate, coordinated and compliant with project specifications and construction requirements. The role is primarily based at the company's office in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, and includes occasional travel to the Kapar construction site for measurements, inspections, coordination, and verification of actual site conditions.

Key responsibilities

Develop, prepare and maintain accurate 3D BIM models using Autodesk Revit, ArchiCAD, Tekla or other relevant software.

Prepare and update 2D construction drawings, detailed drawings, shop drawings, working drawings, sections, elevations and structural details.

Read, interpret and understand architectural, structural, civil and M&E drawings, specifications and construction details.

Prepare detailed drawings for foundations, reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, masonry, architectural works and other construction components.

Generate construction drawings, schedules, material quantities and quantity take-offs directly from BIM models.

Revise and update drawings and BIM models according to design changes, engineers' instructions and project requirements.

Ensure drawings and models comply with project standards, required Level of Development (LOD) and BIM Execution Plan (BEP), where applicable.

Coordinate BIM models and drawings across architectural, structural, civil and M&E disciplines to identify and resolve design discrepancies.

Perform clash detection and prepare clash detection reports to identify potential conflicts between building systems and construction elements.

Liaise with consultants, engineers, subcontractors and project teams to resolve drawing discrepancies and technical issues.

Assist with technical submissions, drawing registers, material schedules, technical documents and other project-related documentation.

Maintain and distribute the latest approved drawings to relevant project teams.

Assist project engineers with technical drawings, construction details and supporting documents for site execution.

Conduct site measurements, inspections and verification of actual site conditions against approved drawings when required.

Update BIM models and construction drawings based on site conditions, measurements and approved design changes.

Prepare and revise as-built drawings to reflect completed construction works.

Provide technical drawing support to the site team and assist in resolving site technical issues, discrepancies and construction clashes.

Attend site coordination meetings, technical discussions and project meetings when required.

Monitor drawing revisions and ensure the site team uses the latest approved construction drawings.

Perform quantity take-offs using BIM models and AutoCAD drawings, particularly for concrete, reinforcement, structural steel and other construction materials.

Assist with material quantity schedules, construction estimates and measurement records.

Extract and compile drawing details, technical specifications and quantities for procurement, subcontractor coordination and project planning.

Maintain proper filing, documentation and revision records for BIM models, drawings and technical submissions.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Technology or another relevant discipline.

At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in BIM modelling, technical drafting or the construction industry.

Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. Knowledge of Navisworks, Tekla or other BIM coordination software is an advantage.

Ability to read, interpret and understand architectural, structural, civil and M&E construction drawings.

Familiarity with construction methods, building materials, structural components and general construction site practices.

Experience preparing shop drawings, construction drawings, coordination drawings and as-built drawings.

Knowledge of BIM modelling, clash detection, model coordination and quantity take-offs.

Ability to understand engineering specifications, identify drawing discrepancies and propose practical technical solutions.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple drawing tasks and meet project deadlines.

Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work closely with engineers, consultants, subcontractors and site personnel.

Willingness to travel to the Kapar construction site when required.

Own transport and a valid driving licence are an advantage.

Familiarity with Malaysian construction industry standards, local authority requirements and construction practices is an advantage.
