PUMO TECHNOVATION SDN BHD is seeking a BIM Engineer to develop, coordinate and deliver accurate MEP models using Revit MEP for diverse building projects in Malaysia. The role involves independent task ownership, model reviews, clash detection, and collaboration with engineers, architects and contractors.

The successful candidate will handle family creation, schedules, and 3D coordination, while ensuring BEP compliance and timely submissions. proficiency in Navisworks and AutoCAD is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or diploma in mechanical, electrical or building services engineering or related field.
• 3–8 years of BIM modelling experience focusing on MEP services.
• Experience on building projects across commercial, residential, industrial or infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 3D BIM models for MEP services (HVAC, plumbing & sanitary, fire protection, electrical and ELV) in Autodesk Revit MEP.
• Produce coordinated drawings from the model, including layouts, sections, schematics and shop drawings.
• Create, modify and manage Revit families, view templates, schedules and annotation standards.
• Extract quantities and schedules from the model to support tendering, procurement and cost estimation.
• Model to the Level of Development (LOD) required by the project BEP; federate models in Navisworks; run clash tests and prepare reports.
• Resolve clashes and communicate issues to engineers, consultants and contractors; plan tasks independently.

Job description

We are looking for a BIM Engineer with strong Revit MEP skills to develop, coordinate and deliver accurate MEP models for building and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is able to take ownership of modelling tasks from start to finish, work independently with minimal supervision, and support the wider project team with coordinated models, drawings and quantities. A basic working knowledge of Navisworks for model review and clash detection is required.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain 3D BIM models for MEP services (HVAC, plumbing & sanitary, fire protection, electrical and ELV) in Autodesk Revit MEP.

Produce coordinated drawings from the model, including layouts, sections, schematics, details and shop drawings.

Create, modify and manage Revit families, view templates, schedules and annotation standards.

Extract quantities and schedules from the model to support tendering, procurement and cost estimation.

Model to the Level of Development (LOD) required by the project’s BIM Execution Plan (BEP).

Federate MEP, architectural and structural models in Navisworks for design review.

Run basic clash detection tests, review results and prepare clash reports with viewpoints.

Resolve clashes in the Revit model and track issues through to close-out.

Take part in coordination meetings and communicate model issues clearly to engineers, consultants and contractors.

Plan and manage assigned modelling tasks independently, from receiving design inputs to issuing final deliverables.

Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and design markups and convert them into accurate models.

Raise RFIs and flag design gaps or constructability concerns early.

Meet submission deadlines with minimal supervision while keeping the BIM lead informed of progress.

Quality, Standards & Data Management

Follow company and client BIM standards, naming conventions and the project BEP.

Carry out model health checks and quality reviews before each submission.

Manage model files and revisions on the project’s Common Data Environment (CDE), e.g. Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360.

Maintain proper version control and documentation of model changes.

Work closely with MEP engineers, architects, structural engineers and site teams.

Support site teams with model-based information, as-built updates and installation queries.

Guide and support junior modellers or drafters where needed.

Requirements

Education

Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.

Candidates with other qualifications but strong, proven BIM experience will also be considered.

Experience

3 to 8 years of experience in BIM modelling, with a focus on MEP services.

Experience on building projects such as commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare or infrastructure.

Experience flexibility: the minimum years of experience may be reduced for candidates who can clearly demonstrate strong knowledge of BIM processes and Revit MEP (see Demonstrating BIM Competence below).

Technical Skills

Revit MEP (strong / essential): modelling of ducting, piping, cable trays, equipment and fixtures; family creation; schedules; sheet setup; worksharing.

Navisworks (basic understanding): appending and federating models, navigation, viewpoints, basic Clash Detective tests and clash reports.

Good understanding of MEP systems, services routing and installation clearances.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.

Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

Understanding of BIM concepts: LOD, BEP, CDE and awareness of ISO 19650 principles.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel for schedules and reports).

Personal Attributes

Strong attention to detail and commitment to model accuracy.

Good problem-solving skills, especially in resolving clashes and services routing.

Clear communicator in English (Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage).

Team player who works well with multidisciplinary teams.

Willing to learn new tools and keep up with BIM developments.

Preferred / Advantageous

Autodesk Certified Professional (Revit for MEP) or equivalent certification.

BIM training or certification from CIDB / myBIM Centre or a recognised training provider.

Exposure to Dynamo for automation, or to coordination platforms such as Revizto or Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Experience preparing BIM deliverables for Malaysian projects and familiarity with local authority requirements.

Experience with 4D/5D BIM (scheduling and quantity take-off).

Demonstrating BIM Competence

Candidates with fewer than 3 years of experience are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate their capability through one or more of the following:

A portfolio of Revit MEP models, drawings or coordination work they produced.

A practical Revit MEP modelling test conducted during the interview process.

Relevant BIM or Autodesk certifications.

Clear examples of tasks or projects they delivered independently.
