Qualifications

About the role

We are seeking an exceptional Bilingual Butler / Sommelier to join our prestigious hospitality team at Premium Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurant in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that combines the refined art of butlering with expert sommelier services, delivering an unparalleled level of personalised guest experiences. This role is fundamental to our commitment to providing world-class service and creating memorable moments for our discerning clientele. You will be the embodiment of excellence, discretion, and sophistication, working in our upscale establishment to ensure every guest interaction reflects the highest standards of hospitality.

Key responsibilities

• Provide exceptional butler services including room service coordination, guest requests management, and bespoke personalised assistance
• Conduct wine and beverage tastings with expert knowledge and recommendations tailored to individual guest preferences
• Curate and present wine selections from our collection, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of varietals, regions, and pairings
• Communicate fluently in at least two languages to engage with our diverse international clientele
• Anticipate guest needs and deliver proactive, discreet service that exceeds expectations
• Maintain impeccable standards of appearance, etiquette and professional conduct at all times
• Coordinate with kitchen, housekeeping and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery
• Document guest preferences and special requirements to personalise future interactions
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage offerings, including menu details and preparation methods
• Handle guest concerns or special requests with grace, discretion and problem-solving expertise

What we’re looking for

• Fluency in English and at least one additional language (Mandarin, French, or Arabic preferred)
• Professional sommelier certification or equivalent extensive wine knowledge and formal training
• Minimum 5 years of experience in luxury hospitality, butler services, or high‑end guest services roles
• Demonstrated expertise in wine service, food and beverage pairing, and wine collection management
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with refined etiquette and cultural awareness
• Ability to remain calm, discreet and professional when managing complex or demanding situations
• Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest service standards
• Knowledge of international service protocols and fine dining etiquette
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and special events as required
• Proficiency in guest management systems and relevant hospitality software
