Job summary

MEILI Resort Hotel in Semporna, Sabah is seeking a Bar Service Associate to warmly welcome guests and deliver attentive bar service. You will take orders, prepare and serve a variety of beverages, assist the Bartender, maintain a clean bar area, and support during events.

The role requires good communication, customer-service orientation, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including weekends and public holidays. Based in Semporna, Sabah, Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM qualification or equivalent.
• Previous working experience in bar service, F&B operations, hotels or restaurants is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of beverage service, bar operations and guest handling.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly and provide friendly, professional and attentive service at the bar.
• Take beverage orders accurately and serve drinks promptly according to guest preferences.
• Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, juices, soft drinks, coffee and other refreshments.
• Assist the Bartender with basic beverage preparation, garnishing and drink presentation when required.
• Ensure all beverages are served according to the resort's service standards and procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the bar counter, seating areas, tables, service stations and surrounding areas.
• Clear used glasses, plates and other items promptly to maintain a clean and organised bar environment.
• Replenish beverages, ice, glassware, garnishes, napkins and other bar supplies as required.
• Assist in monitoring beverage stock levels and report low stock or shortages to the supervisor.
• Familiarise yourself with the beverage menu, drink ingredients, pricing and daily promotions to provide recommendations to guests.
• Handle guest enquiries, requests and complaints professionally, referring complicated matters to the immediate supervisor when necessary.
• Ensure proper handling of guest bills, payment transactions and cash according to established procedures.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation and workplace safety standards at all times.
• Ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with applicable laws and resort policies, including checking identification and refusing service when legally required.
• Assist in setting up and closing the bar, including cleaning, arranging furniture and preparing service stations.
• Support bar operations during special events, private functions, parties and promotional activities.
• Coordinate with the Bartender, Restaurant Supervisor and Food & Beverage team to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum SPM qualification or equivalent.

Previous working experience in bar service, Food & Beverage operations, hotels or restaurants will be an advantage.

Basic knowledge of beverage service, bar operations and guest handling.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Friendly, presentable and customer-service-oriented personality.

Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple guest orders.

Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia and basic English. Chinese (Mandarin) speaking ability will be an added advantage.

Responsible, punctual, hardworking and able to work as part of a team.

Willing to work on rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Willing to be based in Semporna, Sabah.
