Job summary

Bangkok Bank in Malaysia seeks a Banking System Administrator to design, deploy, maintain, and enhance the AS400 Core Banking System. You will support day-to-day operations, security, backups, and automation to ensure high availability.

You will also handle real-time payment platform interfaces, API gateways, and related DB tasks, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards. Onsite work and shift coverage are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with IT knowledge.
• Willing to work onsite and support shift-based operations.
• Certification in IBM Certified System Administrator or IBM Certified Advanced System Operator is an advantage.
• 2-3 years of AS400 System Administration experience including job, object, system/application setup, data mimic, backup and restoration; fresh graduates may apply.
• Hands-on experience in AS400-related and Equation, Real-time Payment Platform (RPP) implementation/enhancement.
• Proven experience with AS400 Equation programs and architecture.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as Bank Negara Malaysia’s RMiT, Outsourcing and BCM.
• Knowledge of API, SQL, RENTAS, SWIFT, cheque clearing, and internet banking gateway applications; IBM Power Series server beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and enhance AS400 Core Banking System and security capabilities.
• Support day-to-day AS400 Core Banking System maintenance, upgrades, and backups.
• Support Real-Time payment operations, API gateway, and database interfaces with Core Banking System and eBanking.
• Own and manage AS400 system, applications, jobs, objects, and access permissions.
• Tune/patch OS and address vulnerabilities and bugs.
• Develop and maintain system documentation and security baselines.
• Identify automation opportunities for AS400 Core Banking System.
• Provide production support and monitoring for availability and performance.
• Respond to audits with timely information; coordinate with vendor teams.
• Participate in DRP/BCP testing and post-incident reviews.
• Standby support for Real-Time Payment system and Core Banking after hours as required.

Banking System Administrator and Support

Design, develop, deploy, maintain, and enhance AS400 Core Banking System (hardware and software) and security capabilities.

Support day-to-day operations of the AS400 Core Banking System (hardware and software) maintenance, upgrade, product security suite, data backup and restoration.

Support day-to-day Real-Time payment operations, API gateway and database with/related to Core Banking System, and interface with eBanking System

Own, manage, review and maintain the AS400 core banking system, application, jobs, objects, IDs access permission requirement.

Fine tune/upgrade/patch the Core Banking System OS and fix known vulnerability and/or software bug.

Develop and maintain documentation including AS400 system/application design/mapping, Security Standards and Baselines, parameter setting and operational processes.

Identify and implement automation opportunities for AS400 Core Banking System.

Provide production support and monitoring to ensure Core Banking system (hardware and software) availability, performance and reliability according to the bank’s requirement.

Conduct product research, define requirements, and perform technical Proof of Concept for Core Banking System enhancement/improvement initiative.

Development and maintenance the AS400 system architecture, security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with industry best practices.

Respond to audit and regulatory requests with timely and accurate information.

Manage and liaison with Core Banking System and Real-time Payment Platform (RPP) support vendors and Parent Bank support teams to resolve reported issues.

Participate in system testing, mock runs, liaising and support respective business units.

Coordinate and participate in the annual Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) testing of critical systems

To provide standby support for Real-Time Payment system and Core Banking System after office hours, weekend and public holidays (as required).

Job Requirements

Degree in Computer Science / Higher education with extensive IT knowledge.

Must be willing to work onsite and support shift-based operations.

Certification in IBM Certified System Administrator or IBM Certified Advanced System Operator will be added advantage.

At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in performing AS400 System Administration and management of AS400 Application (Equation) systems including job, object, system/application setup, data mimic, backup and restoration with strong analytical and problem-solving skills (Fresh graduates are encourage to apply).

Hands-on experience in AS400-related and Equation, Real-time Paymnet Platform (RPP) implementation and/or enhancement project.

Proven experience relevant to AS400 Equation programs and architecture.

Good understanding of regulatory requirements such as Bank Negara Malaysia’s RMiT, Outsourcing and Business Continuity Management (BCM) requirements.

Knowledge in API (Application Programming Interface), SQL database, payment (RENTAS, SWIFT), cheque clearing and internet banking gateway application as well as IBM power series server will be an added advantage.
