Job summary

Russell Tobin in Malaysia seeks an experienced Backup Engineer to manage and optimize our enterprise backup infrastructure in Kuala Lumpur. You will ensure reliable data protection across systems, perform migrations, capacity planning, and continuous improvement of backup processes.

You'll work hands-on with Veritas NetBackup and Veeam Backup & Replication, develop SOPs, provide documentation, and collaborate with Infrastructure and Network teams to validate connectivity and storage

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise backup administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup and Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Experience with backup infrastructure, migration, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of disk and tape storage technologies (Dell, ExaGrid, IBM, or Quantum preferred).
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, firewall rules, routing, and DWDM.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain enterprise backup environments using Veritas NetBackup and Veeam Backup & Replication.
• Deploy, configure, and support backup infrastructure and execute backup migration projects.
• Perform backup capacity planning, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Support day-to-day BAU operations and resolve backup failures to ensure successful backup and recovery.
• Manage disk and tape storage solutions (Dell, ExaGrid, IBM, Quantum preferred).
• Develop SOPs, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
• Support change, incident, and problem management activities.
• Work with Infrastructure and Network teams to validate backup connectivity and network requirements.
