Job summary

Hexon Data Sdn. Bhd., trading as JustNaik, builds technology to make public transport smarter, more accessible and efficient.

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain backend services, APIs and data pipelines powering our products. You will work with IoT integrations, cloud infrastructure and real-time data processing, collaborating with frontend, product and operations teams to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong RESTful API design and secure data handling.
• Proficient in SQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Familiar with NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
• Experience with Git and GitHub for version control.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Implement backend logic for journey planning, ticketing and payments.
• Design and optimize database structures and data-processing workflows.
• Integrate with third-party platforms, GPS devices and IoT systems.
• Build background jobs and asynchronous processing with fault handling.
• Monitor and troubleshoot backend stability, security and availability.
• Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with frontend, product and operations teams to translate requirements.
