Job summary

Grab is building backend services in a FinID team-based environment, with opportunities to engage in consumer immersions and direct end-user interactions. The role is onsite at the Petaling Jaya office, reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, and involves ownership of code quality, architecture, and reliable delivery.

You will work on diverse services, ensure scalable data handling, and collaborate across distributed teams spanning multiple countries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience writing clean code in languages listed (C++, C, Java, Scala, Python, Node.JS, C#), and willingness to learn Golang.
• Write extensible code for complex projects and pick the right abstractions that follow SOLID principles.
• Understand more complex data structures and algorithms, and recognize when to use them.
• Understanding of clean architecture principles.
• Familiarity developing services that serve HTTP RESTful APIs.
• Consume and publish messages from/to stream platforms like Kafka or SQS.
• Familiarity with cloud services, e.g. AWS.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Maven, GitLab.
• Experience with a relational database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Build components or features based on well-defined tasks.
• Understand project requirements and apply them in designs.
• Understand codebase and systems, ensure reliability via design reviews, monitoring and OE standards.
• Own your code and ensure it is readable, maintainable and well-tested.
• Understand and apply appropriate data structures and algorithms.
• Give clear, relevant feedback during code reviews and respond to feedback from others.
• Respond promptly to issues and keep the team updated.
