Job summary

ams OSRAM Group is a global leader in lighting and sensor solutions, seeking an experienced AVI equipment engineer in Penang. You will own asset performance, lead root cause analysis, and drive improvements across installation, qualification, and technology transfer activities.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, process, R&D, quality, and vendors, sharing knowledge and leading teams while upholding safety, environmental and quality standards in an automation-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Electrical, Mechanical, Automation or equivalent.
• 4–5 years of working experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering.
• Experience with AVI, AOI, Vision Inspection, or Metrology equipment.
• Experience leading equipment installation, qualification, and technology transfer projects.
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0, automation, data analytics, or machine learning in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of equipment reliability engineering, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, SPC, FDC, and process control methodologies.
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Able to work with all levels of people from various department with good command.
• Independent with self initiative, good analytical skill and able to work under minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive overall performance, reliability, and availability of AVI equipment to achieve operational targets.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action implementation for equipment-related issues.
• Develop, optimize, and sustain preventive maintenance and machine health monitoring programs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment uptime, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Lead equipment installation, qualification, upgrades, and technology transfer activities.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process, R&D, Quality, and vendors to resolve technical issues and improve equipment capability.
• Serve as the technical expert for AVI equipment, providing leadership, coaching, and knowledge sharing to engineers and technicians.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards while supporting automation and digitalization initiatives.

What we look for

• Minimum 4-5 years of working experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering.
• Experience with AVI, AOI, Vision Inspection, or Metrology equipment.
• Experience leading equipment installation, qualification, and technology transfer projects.
• Knowledge of Industry 4.0, automation, data analytics, or machine learning applications in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of equipment reliability engineering, OEE, MTBF, MTTR, SPC, FDC, and process control methodologies.
• Proficient in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies, including 8D, FMEA, DMAIC, Lean, and Six Sigma tools.
• Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• Able to work with all levels of people from various department with good command.
• Independent with self initiative, good analytical skill and able to work under minimum supervision.
