Job summary

Avensys Consulting is seeking an Automation Tester to play a key role in testing activities for a Clicks web modernization project in Kuala Lumpur. The role covers manual and automated testing within banking domain, with hands-on work on test scripts, data, and defect tracking.

The candidate should have exposure to UFT or Selenium, strong communication skills, and familiarity with Agile methodologies and JIRA. This is a contract position based in KL, Malaysia.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year hands-on software testing experience, preferably in banking/financial services.
• Knowledge of testing methodologies and frameworks, with manual and automation testing experience.
• Exposure to automation testing tools such as UFT or Selenium and related frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to investigate issues with technical teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for team and client interaction.

Responsibilities

• Develop test scripts, test conditions, test data, and expected results based on requirements.
• Update and maintain testing standards and procedures.
• Document steps to reproduce defects and follow project defect management plans.
• Collaborate with application teams to resolve testing issues and inform test leads of risks.
• Apply knowledge of banking applications and Agile/JIRA practices during testing.
• Script and execute automation for web and mobile applications where applicable.

Competencies and Skills

• Experience: At least 1 year of hands-on experience in Software testing or related roles, preferably within the Banking or financial services domain.
• Testing Expertise: Knowledge of testing methodologies and frameworks, with experience in manual testing and automation testing, including test execution, defect reporting, progress tracking, and validation of fixes.
• Automation Knowledge: Exposure to automation testing, with basic hands-on experience in tools such as UFT, Selenium, or similar frameworks.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to investigate and report software issues collaboratively with technical teams and stakeholders.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to develop test scripts, test conditions, input test data, and expected results based on the application requirements
• Develop, update, and maintain testing standards and procedures.
• Strong attention to details - able to document and follow detailed instructions within test scripts as well as defects tracking documents (i.e., steps to recreate the problem)
• Understanding of testing concepts and how testing fits in with the overall project life cycle
• Record problems and issues in accordance with the project's problem and issue management plans.
• Work with the application team to resolve any issues that arise out of the testing process.
• Inform the test lead/test manager of any issues that may affect the schedule, budget, or quality of the product or the testing process.
• Strong knowledge in Banking
• Able to handle assignment independently with minimum supervision
• Technical knowledge in banking application
• Good exposure to Agile methodology and JIRA.
• Hands-on experience in automation for both web and mobile application. Able to script/fix and execute automation script.
