Job summary

Sanmina-SCI Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in Penang is seeking an Automation Engineer to conceptualize, design and develop automated machine hardware systems. You will select actuators, motors, drivers, controllers, sensors and related components to deliver turnkey automation solutions.

The role requires hands-on design experience with manufacturing automation concepts and 3D modeling tools like SolidWorks, plus strong teamwork and independent working capabilities.

Qualifications

• At least a Diploma, Degree or Master in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in automation with 2 years in design of automated equipment and system.
• Detail oriented and must possess good knowledge in the design of manufacturing automation concept.
• Hands-on experience in generating full manufacturing automation solutions using 3D SolidWorks or other modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Provide machine conceptualization, design and development of automated machine hardware system.
• Decide on best hardware system including actuators, motors, drivers, controllers, sensors, robotics, electrical & system components.
• Build automated machine, commissioning, troubleshooting and release to production.
• Generate design documentation, mechanical and basic electrical BOM list including electrical I/Os, controllers, drivers, pneumatics, sensors, etc.
• Provide cost estimation and ROI and project lead time management.
• Support and provide continuous improvement on automation projects to meet product yield, quality and customer requirements.
