About the Role

We are looking for a curious, hands‑on Automation Engineer to join our Managed Services Team in Kuala Lumpur. Our automation and RPA platform of choice is Rewst: you will convert manual MSP runbooks into reliable, well‑documented workflows that save time, improve quality, and scale our services. This role suits someone from an MSP background (IT Service Desk/Wintel) with strong PowerShell and Jinja templating skills (and/or Python), eager to apply low‑code automation and modern DevOps practices.

Office hours

Standard Kuala Lumpur business hours. Occasional after‑hours or weekend work may be required for planned change windows, incident response, or releases (TOIL/OT as applicable).

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to scope repetitive processes and gather clear requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Design and build automated workflows in Rewst, promoting reusability through shared, DRY functions and actions.
• Maintain and update existing Rewst workflows and associated documentation to ensure reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with the Managed Services Team to gather feedback, understand operational pain points, and iteratively improve automations based on real‑world usage.
• Implement robust error handling, logging, and rollback paths; ensure automations are idempotent and change‑controlled.
• Test thoroughly (including dry‑run where applicable) and safely promote changes through environments using Git‑based reviews.
• Monitor runs, troubleshoot incidents, and keep automations current with platform/tooling changes.
• Produce concise documentation and runbooks; provide basic enablement to colleagues who interact with forms and workflows.
• Track and report performance (success rate, retries/MTTR, and hours saved) to demonstrate value delivered.

Skills and experience

Must have:

• 2–4 years’ experience in an MSP - Wintel/Service Desk or systems/cloud support role.
• Familiarity with Jinja templating for workflow logic (or similar templating engines).
• Strong PowerShell scripting; basic Python is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365/Azure administration.
• Comfortable with REST APIs, JSON/YAML, authentication (OAuth), and pagination/rate‑limit patterns.
• Git fundamentals (branching, pull requests, code reviews).
• Clear written documentation and an organised working style.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to Rewst or other automation/RPA tools (e.g., Power Automate, UiPath).
• Familiarity with PSA/RMM platforms (e.g., ConnectWise, Autotask) and service desk workflows.
• CI/CD awareness (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions) and basic testing approaches.
• Observability/monitoring experience and an interest in secure secrets management.
