Job summary

Flex is seeking an Automation Engineer in our PTP facility to design and maintain automation equipment and related tooling for manufacturing processes in Malaysia. You will document manuals, drawings and maintenance plans while ensuring equipment uptime and reliability.

The role requires at least a Bachelor’s in electrical or mechanical engineering and roughly five years of automation engineering experience in a high-tech electronics setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar field.
• Typically requires at least 5 years of experience in automation engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area.
• Experience in developing devices that include automatic camera recognition.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and modify automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and processes.
• Ensure uptime of machines through regular preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to ensure efficient operation of automation systems.
• Drive permanent corrective actions and propose design improvements for processes and equipment.

Reporting to the Automation Manager the Automation Engineer role is responsible for specifying, designing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.

What a typical day looks like:

• Design, engineer, and modify existing and new moderately-complex automation equipment, tooling and applications to automate manufacturing processes.
• Establish technical manuals, drawings, models, training documentation, preventative maintenance plans and troubleshooting guides for automated equipment and automated processes.
• Understand the machine operating standards, onsequence of wear and tear parts and product defects
• Ensure the uptime of machines through regular preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance
• Should be willing to learn & enhance the skill in all type of Automation equipment.
• Should prepare why-why evaluation & drive for permanent corrective actions.
• Should be able to give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment.
• Directs daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs
• Coordinates maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function.
• Collaborates and offers input to planning, building, and maintaining the Automation framework and associated processes for new products.
• Identifies and drives change to ensure automation effectiveness of existing processes.
• Demonstrates and thorouth understing of customer requirements, offer suggestions and ideas on how best to deliver automation solutions.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
