Job summary

HMI Medical in Kuala Lumpur seeks an Automation Developer to design, build, and support automation solutions across RPA, API, Python, and VBA. You will work with the team lead to mature frameworks and deliver scalable automation components.

This hands-on role requires 2+ years in automation or software development, strong problem-solving, OOP knowledge, and exposure to cloud APIs. You will document designs, assist testing, and optimize processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related STEM field.
• Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in automation/RPA development, software development, or business/process analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down issues logically.
• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their application in solution design.
• Awareness of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS) and API-based integration is advantageous.
• Having project management experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, draw.io) and BPMN methodologies.
• Basic knowledge of databases (SQL, Oracle) and scripting for automation or data handling.
• Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and an execution-focused mindset.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Passion for continuous learning and AI/api-driven automation opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development of automation with tools (RPA, API, Python, VBA, etc.) and apply development best practices.
• Participate in requirement gathering, process mapping, and documentation (SOPs, Solution Design Documents, UAT scripts).
• Support testing activities — unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and UAT execution.
• Support solution refactoring — improve performance, scalability, and maintainability of existing automation frameworks.
• Support and manage business users with their requirements.
• Collaborate with team lead to design structured automation solutions aligned with best practices.
• Assist in building reusable components (functions, libraries, templates) to streamline development.
• Provide production (BAU) support — monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance existing automation solutions.
