Job summary

SH GAN & Associates is seeking an experienced Audit Senior to join our external audit team in Kuala Lumpur. You will lead audit engagements, oversee fieldwork, and supervise junior staff while maintaining client relationships and high-quality delivery.

You will review financial statements, assess risks, and stay updated with MFRS/IFRS and auditing standards. Excellent communication and ethics are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant audit experience, preferably in external audit or large organisation audit function.
• Solid knowledge of financial reporting standards (MFRS/IFRS) and auditing standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to identify audit risks and control weaknesses.

Responsibilities

About the role

SH GAN & Associates PLT is seeking an experienced Audit Senior to join our external audit team. This is a full-time position based in our Desa Parkcity Kuala Lumpur office. As an Audit Senior, you will take on a key role in leading audit engagements, managing client relationships, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit services. You will be responsible for overseeing audit fieldwork, supervising junior team members, and providing strategic audit advice to our clients. This position is crucial to maintaining our reputation for excellence in external audit services.

Key responsibilities

Plan and execute audit procedures on client financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant auditing standards and regulatory requirements

Lead audit fieldwork and oversee the work of junior audit staff, providing guidance and quality control throughout the engagement

Review and evaluate internal control systems and assess the risk of material misstatement in financial statements

Prepare audit working papers and technical memoranda documenting the audit procedures performed and conclusions reached

Conduct testing of transactions, balances, and account reconciliations to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence

Communicate audit findings to clients and senior audit management, presenting recommendations for improvements to internal controls and operations

Maintain strong client relationships and liaise with finance teams and management to resolve audit queries and facilitate the audit process

Stay current with changes in accounting standards, auditing standards, and relevant regulations affecting our clients' industries

Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of audit methodologies, tools and resources

What we're looking for

Professional qualification such as CA (Malaysia), CPA, ACA or equivalent recognised accounting qualification

Minimum 3-5 years of relevant audit experience, preferably gained within an external audit environment or audit function of a large organisation

Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, particularly Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

Solid understanding of auditing standards and audit procedures, with proven experience conducting statutory audits

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and evaluate audit risks and control weaknesses

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex audit matters to clients and senior management

Leadership and mentoring capabilities, with experience supervising and coaching junior audit staff

Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

High level of attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills

Professional demeanour and commitment to maintaining ethical standards and confidentiality
