About the role
We are seeking an experienced Audit Senior to join our audit team in George Town, Penang. In this role, you will take on a pivotal position in delivering high-quality external audit services to our diverse client portfolio. As an Audit Senior, you will be responsible for managing audit engagements, supervising junior audit staff, and ensuring compliance with auditing standards and regulatory requirements. This position offers the opportunity to develop your technical expertise whilst contributing to the continued success of our external audit practice.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute external audit engagements in accordance with applicable auditing standards and firm policies
- Supervise and mentor junior audit staff, providing guidance and quality reviews on their work
- Perform substantive audit procedures and analytical reviews to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence
- Evaluate audit findings and assess the impact on financial statements and audit opinions
- Prepare comprehensive audit documentation and working papers that support audit conclusions
- Liaise with clients to clarify accounting matters, explain audit procedures and discuss audit findings
- Identify and communicate audit risks, internal control deficiencies and management recommendations
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of audit methodologies and templates
- Manage audit budgets and timelines to ensure engagements are completed efficiently
- Stay current with developments in auditing standards, accounting principles and regulatory requirements
What we're looking for
- A professional accounting qualification such as MIA, CPA Australia, ACCA, ICAEW, CA (Malaysia), or equivalent recognised qualification
- Minimum 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in external audit or a similar audit environment
- Strong technical knowledge of International Standards on Auditing (ISA) or equivalent auditing standards
- Proficiency in audit software aBot and tools, with strong Microsoft Excel capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple audit assignments simultaneously and prioritise workload effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex audit matters clearly to diverse audiences
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Proven supervisory experience with the ability to lead, coach and develop junior team members
- Understanding of accounting frameworks, particularly International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Integrity, professionalism and a commitment to audit quality and ethical standards
- Willingness to travel to client sites as required
