SFAI Malaysia is seeking an experienced Audit Semi-Senior to join our audit team in Puchong, Selangor. You will take on greater responsibility for audit engagements, supervise junior staff, and contribute to audit quality as you progress toward professional qualification.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA/ACCA or progress toward qualification is encouraged.
• 2-5 years of external audit or related roles.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute audit procedures in accordance with ISA and regulatory requirements
• Supervise and mentor junior audit staff, providing guidance and feedback
• Perform substantive audit testing on financial statement accounts, including revenue, expenses, assets and liabilities
• Assess internal controls and identify control deficiencies or improvements for clients
• Communicate audit findings to clients in a clear and professional manner
• Prepare audit documentation and summary reports for review by senior auditors and partners
• Contribute to the efficient delivery of audit engagements within budget and timeframe
• Identify and escalate audit risks and complex accounting matters to senior team members
• Support compliance with firm quality assurance procedures and audit file documentation standards

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Audit Semi-Senior to join our dynamic audit team at SFAI Malaysia. This is a full-time position based in Puchong, Selangor. In this role, you will take on greater responsibility for audit engagements, supporting the audit process from planning through to completion. You will supervise junior staff, contribute to audit quality, and develop your expertise in external audit practices. This position represents an important step in your career progression within the audit profession, where you will gain exposure to diverse clients and complex accounting matters whilst working alongside experienced audit professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute audit procedures in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and relevant regulatory requirements
• Supervise and mentor junior audit staff, providing guidance and feedback on their audit work
• Perform substantive audit testing on financial statement accounts, including revenue, expenses, assets and liabilities
• Assess internal controls and identify control deficiencies or improvements for clients
• Communicate audit findings to clients in a clear and professional manner
• Prepare audit documentation and summary reports for review by senior auditors and partners
• Contribute to the efficient delivery of audit engagements within budget and timeframe
• Identify and escalation audit risks and complex accounting matters to senior team members
• Support compliance with firm quality assurance procedures and audit file documentation standards

What we're looking for

• Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent, or significant progress towards qualification is encouraged
• 2-5 years of experience in external audit or related accounting roles
• Strong knowledge of MPERS, MFRS, IFRS and audit procedures
• Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically about audit findings
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical matters to clients
• Demonstrated ability to supervise junior staff and provide constructive feedback
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to audit quality and compliance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in advising clients on accounting treatments and financial reporting matters
• Familiarity with various industry sectors and business models
