Job description

Reporting to: Manager, Group Learning
Location: Malaysia
Coverage: Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia

Role Purpose

The Assistant Manager, Group Learning plays a key role in translating Mewah Group's learning priorities into consistent, effective and compliant learning operations across the Group.

Working closely with the Manager, Group Learning, the role is responsible for driving the day-to-day effectiveness of Group Learning, with particular focus on factory learning compliance and audit readiness, HRD Corp administration, Learning Management System governance, learning data and reporting, and programme coordination.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong operational judgement and the ability to work independently with Human Resources, factory and business stakeholders. The successful candidate is expected to identify gaps, resolve operational issues and strengthen Learning processes — rather than rely on detailed instructions for day-to-day execution.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day Group Learning operations and support the effective delivery of the annual learning plan across Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

Drive factory learning compliance and audit readiness, including mandatory training requirements, training matrices, records, supporting evidence and training-related corrective actions.

Partner with Site Human Resources, Health, Safety and Environment and relevant stakeholders to identify and resolve learning compliance gaps and recurring audit findings.

Manage HRD Corp administration and governance, including levy utilisation, grant and claim processes, supporting documentation and reporting.

Oversee the operational effectiveness of the Learning Management System, including course administration, completion records, data quality and reporting.

Monitor learning and compliance data, identify trends and gaps, and provide practical recommendations for improvement.

Support the Manager, Group Learning in translating Group learning priorities, policies and standards into practical operating plans and processes.

Coordinate Group learning programmes, external learning partners and vendors where required.

Provide day-to-day guidance to Group Learning Executive(s), developing greater ownership, problem-solving and operational independence within the team.

Drive continuous improvement in Learning processes, documentation, controls and stakeholder experience.

What We Are Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Learning & Development or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated responsibility for Learning & Development operations, training administration, Human Resources operations or related areas.

Experience supporting manufacturing, factory or operational environments is strongly preferred.

Practical experience in training compliance, audit preparation, training matrices and learning records.

Good working knowledge of HRD Corp requirements, grant/claim administration and related documentation.

Experience administering or governing a Learning Management System.

Strong planning, coordination, documentation and follow-through.

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with confidence working with learning and compliance data.

Able to work independently with multiple stakeholders and resolve routine operational matters without continuous supervision.

Able to guide junior team members and build greater accountability and independence within the team.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Bahasa Malaysia proficiency is required for effective engagement with Malaysian factory stakeholders.

Willing and able to travel to factories and other Group locations when required.

The Profile We Need

This role requires more than strong Learning & Development knowledge.

We are looking for someone who combines operational discipline with sound judgement — someone who can understand requirements, ask the right questions, identify root causes and move matters towards resolution.

The successful candidate should be:

Structured — able to manage multiple requirements without losing sight of details.

Independent — able to make appropriate operational decisions within established direction.

Analytical — able to look beyond symptoms and identify underlying gaps.

Proactive — follows through and anticipates issues rather than waiting for instructions.

Credible with stakeholders — comfortable engaging factories, Human Resources and other functions.

Curious and improvement-minded — continuously asks how Learning operations can work better.

People-minded — able to guide junior colleagues without creating dependency.

The Impact of This Role

The Assistant Manager, Group Learning will help strengthen the operational foundation of Learning across Mewah Group — ensuring that learning requirements are not only planned, but consistently executed, documented, measured and maintained.

The role will contribute towards:

stronger factory learning compliance and audit readiness;

better visibility and reliability of Group learning data;

more effective utilisation and governance of learning resources;

stronger Learning Management System and administrative processes;

more consistent Learning practices across the Group; and

a Learning function that is increasingly structured, proactive and capable of supporting Mewah's evolving business needs and growth!
