Job summary

Wesco in Malaysia is seeking a Network Engineer to support LAN/WAN/Wireless environments and ensure smooth end-user experience. You will configure, install, and maintain switches, routers, and security hardware, and provide 24/7 network support.

You will collaborate with the SR Networking Team to troubleshoot, document networks, and support data center environments. A Bachelor’s degree and CCNA certification are required, with 1–3 years Cisco experience and availability for evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• CCNA Routing & Switching certification.
• 1 year (3 preferred) hands-on Cisco switching/routing and wireless hardware.
• 1 year (2 preferred) experience with EIGRP, BGP, MPLS and routing.
• 1 year (2 preferred) experience with cloud-based services.
• Strong documentation and end-user communication skills.
• Ability to work with MSPs and understand carrier networks.
• Available evenings and weekends as required.
• ITIL/BICSI/Lean knowledge preferred.

You will be responsible for supporting network communications, including maintaining, and monitoring LAN/WAN/Wireless network environment needed to provide a great end user experience. Utilizes LAN/WAN/Wireless network monitoring tools to ensure optimal system utilization, performance and system availability. Supports vendors to install, maintain, and troubleshoot systems and services vital to organization’s business. Contributes to highly complex technical projects.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install and maintain network Switches, Routers and Security Hardware.
• Support complex LAN/WAN networks throughout the organization.
• Assists in maintaining WESCO’s networking infrastructure to include, routers, switches, access points, VPN, and data center environments.
• Takes direction from the SR Networking Team to troubleshoot on Local and Wide Area Network problems.
• Performs installations, upgrades and support of other network hardware and software.
• Performs and assists others with day to day operational tasks.
• Creates and maintains technical documents for the network.
• Provides 24/7 support of the network.
• Continuous improvement of the overall network environment to enhance reliability, availability, and functionality.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree required
• Licenses/Certificates/Designations - CCNA routing and switching
• 1 years required, 3 years preferred of hands on with Cisco switching, routing and wireless hardware, software and support.
• 1 years required, 2 years preferred of EIGRP, BGP, MPLS and other routing protocols.
• 1 year required, 2 years preferred of working with cloud-based services.
• 1 years required, 2 years preferred of overall IT.
• Router and switch configuration.
• Microsoft suite of software including Visio and Power Point.
• Effective communications with end users and other IT staff.
• Ability to create clear and highly accurate project and network documentation is a must.
• Ability to work with and manage members of a Managed Service Provider
• Ability to understand carrier networks
• Ability to quickly analyze situations and act decisively.
• Must be available evenings and weekends as situations require.
• Vendor management preferred.
• Advanced troubleshooting abilities preferred.
• Knowledge of industry best practices and support concepts (ITIL, BICSI, Lean) preferred.
