Job summary

Elsa Talent Solutions Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for our Oil & Gas client in Kuala Lumpur (KL Office).

The role covers designing, implementing, and managing enterprise network infrastructure including WAN, LAN, VPN gateways, Meraki, and firewalls to ensure reliability and scalability. You will collaborate with Security, Compliance, and Dev/Ops teams, perform capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Network Engineering or Network Architecture within an enterprise environment.
• Experience with SD-WAN, BGP, Wireless networking, Cisco IP VPN, Meraki.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus switches: configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and FMC.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, RADIUS, and TACACS+.
• Proficient in Wireshark and packet analysis.
• Experience with Cisco DNA Center (DNAC) solutions (edge/border).
• Experience in high-availability, DR, and failover design.
• Knowledge of DMZ network traffic management and enterprise security best practices.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to collaborate in a global, dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, IP subnets, VPN gateways, Meraki, firewalls).
• Plan and execute data centre and office network migrations, upgrades, and optimizations.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with Security, Compliance, and other teams to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring of networks and security.
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and failover strategies for business continuity.
• Create and maintain HLD/LLD documentation and network standards.
• Manage incidents and changes via ServiceNow, including P1/P2 resolutions.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in a global, collaborative team environment.

Scope of Works:

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise network infrastructure, including IP subnets, LAN/WAN, wireless networks, firewalls, Meraki, and VPN gateways.
• Plan and execute data centre and office network migrations, deployments, upgrades, and optimizations to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Design and implement solutions to address complex network challenges within enterprise environments.
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to ensure network security, audit readiness, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide timely resolution to minimize business impact and network downtime.
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring of network and security environments.
• Develop and maintain network backup, recovery, and failover strategies to support business continuity and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with Development, Infrastructure, Security, and other technical teams to deliver network and security solutions aligned with business requirements.
• Define and maintain network standards, procedures, and High-Level Design (HLD) / Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation.
• Manage network incidents and changes through ServiceNow, including the resolution of P1/P2 incidents and adherence to established change management processes.
• Evaluate and implement network technologies, automation tools, and templates to improve operational efficiency and network performance.
• Maintain accurate network configurations, policies, technical documentation, and best practices for internal teams and stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to junior team members.
• Participate in a collaborative global team environment and support network operations as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Network Engineering or Network Architecture within an enterprise environment.
• Strong experience in implementing and supporting enterprise network technologies, including:
  • SD-WAN
  • BGP
  • Wireless networking
  • Cisco IP VPN
  • Meraki
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus switches, including configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise network security, including Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Firepower Management Center (FMC).
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, RADIUS, and TACACS+.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience using Wireshark and packet analysis tools.
• Experience with Cisco DNA Center (DNAC) solutions, including edge and border layers.
• Strong understanding and experience in designing solutions for high availability, disaster recovery, and failover.
• Strong understanding of enterprise and DMZ network traffic management.
• Good knowledge and experience in preparing HLD/LLD network design documentation.
• Strong understanding of network security, performance, and availability best practices.

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications:

• CCNP or equivalent certification/experience in Routing and Switching.
• CCNA certification.
• CCNP Security certification.
• Cloud networking certifications or experience with AWS and Azure are an advantage.
• Exposure to network automation tools, scripting, and automation technologies is an advantage.
• ITIL certification is an advantage.
