Job summary

Cayman First is seeking an Assistant Underwriter for its Property & Casualty Personal Lines team in Penang, Malaysia. You will deliver exceptional service to clients, assist in policy issuance and renewals, and help ensure accurate, compliant policy documentation.

The role requires organized, responsive professionals who can translate complex insurance terms into clear client guidance and actively identify opportunities to enhance coverage.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher; insurance-related coursework or certifications preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of customer-facing experience in insurance or related service industry.
• Strong knowledge of insurance products, services and personal lines coverage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality, client-focused service.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and customer management software.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and accuracy in handling policy documentation.
• Ability to explain complex insurance information in clear terms to clients.
• Demonstrated ability to identify client needs and recommend appropriate coverage options.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and adaptability to evolving responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Greet walk-in clients and respond to calls and emails about personal lines policies; resolve inquiries accurately.
• Assist in policy issuance and renewals; process new policies and renewals for continuous client coverage.
• Review policy documents for accuracy and regulatory compliance before issuance.
• Provide guidance on coverage options, billing, endorsements, and other service questions.
• Process policy changes; update coverage and client information in the system.
• Explain complex insurance information clearly to clients and help them navigate coverage.
• Identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities to enhance protection and value.
• Maintain organized records of client interactions and policy changes in the system.
• Support KPIs such as policy issuance turnaround, client satisfaction, and retention.
• Adapt to evolving responsibilities with teamwork and initiative.
