To assist in supervising, monitoring, and inspecting water pipe replacement works and associated civil engineering activities, ensuring all construction works are executed in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Job Purpose
To assist in supervising, monitoring, and inspecting water pipe replacement works and associated civil engineering activities, ensuring all construction works are executed in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Resident Engineer in the overall supervision and administration of water pipe replacement works and other associated civil engineering works.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor construction progress, workmanship quality, and compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Review and verify contractor’s work methods, material submissions, shop drawings, and technical documents.
- Monitor the quality of construction materials and workmanship, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and project specifications.
- Witness and verify site testing, inspections, commissioning activities, and other quality control procedures.
- Identify, record, and report any non-conformance, defects, delays, or construction issues to the Resident Engineer/Project Manager.
- Maintain comprehensive site documentation, including daily site reports, inspection records, progress reports, and construction monitoring records.
- Monitor contractor’s compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, utility providers, and relevant authorities to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Assist in reviewing progress claims, variation orders, and as-built documentation.
- Provide technical support and recommendations to resolve site issues and ensure timely completion of works.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Resident Engineer or Project Manager.
Job Requirements
- Registered as an Inspector of Works (IOW) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
- Minimum Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction supervision, preferably in water infrastructure, pipeline replacement, or civil engineering projects.
- Proven experience in supervising water pipe replacement works, utility infrastructure, and associated civil engineering works.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, specifications, quality assurance procedures, and site supervision practices.
- Familiarity with relevant Malaysian construction standards, authority requirements, and contract administration procedures.
- Experience working with engineering consultancy firms, contractors, or infrastructure development projects.
- Good understanding of site safety requirements and environmental compliance.
- Strong leadership, communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently, manage site activities effectively, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Willing to be based on-site and travel as required.
