Job summary

Tiger Balm (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking an Assistant QC Manager to support the QC Manager in daily laboratory operations and to drive compliance with GMP, GLP and data integrity. The role involves supervising QC staff, planning testing activities, and ensuring timely batch releases.

The successful candidate will have at least 7 years in QC with leadership experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with internal departments and external vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Applied Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Quality Control with supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, GLP, data integrity and pharmaceutical QC requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the QC Manager in managing daily QC laboratory operations and activities.
  • Supervise and monitor QC Executives, Analysts and laboratory personnel to ensure tasks are completed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Plan, prioritise and monitor QC testing activities, including routine testing, stability studies and batch release testing.
  • Monitor and follow up on OOS/OOT, CAPA, Deviations, Laboratory Investigations and other QMS activities to ensure timely completion and closure.
  • Ensure QC activities comply with approved SOPs, specifications, GMP, data integrity and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor batch release-related QC activities and proactively escalated any issues that may impact product release.
  • Monitor laboratory equipment calibration, qualification, maintenance and servicing activities.
  • Coordinate and follow up with external vendors and service providers, including service contracts.
  • Monitor QC purchasing activities, including laboratory consumables, reagents, equipment, purchase orders, invoices and payment status.
  • Review and ensure accuracy and completeness of QC documentation, reports and analytical results.
  • Support investigations, audits, regulatory inspections and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Identify operational issues and provide appropriate solutions and recommendations.
  • Ensure effective communication and timely escalation of QC issues to the QC Manager and relevant departments.
  • Support training, competency assessment and development of QC personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, compliance and quality performance.
  • Perform other QC-related duties as assigned by the QC Manager.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical knowledge, problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively manage and monitor QC activities and team performance.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Applied Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Quality Control within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, cosmetic or related manufacturing industry, with supervisory/leadership experience. Candidates with relevant pharmaceutical QC experience will be highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, GLP, data integrity and pharmaceutical QC requirements.
  • Good understanding of laboratory analytical techniques and QC laboratory operations.
  • Experience in handling OOS/OOT investigations, CAPA, Deviations and laboratory investigations.
  • Experience in stability studies and/or batch release activities is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, people management and problem-solving skills.
  • Good planning, organisational and time-management skills.
  • Able to work independently, prioritise multiple activities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Proactive, accountable and detail-oriented with strong ownership of assigned responsibilities.
