Assistant Program Manager – Strategic Sourcing

Job Description

For its strategic expansion in Malaysia, we are seeking an experienced Assistant Program Manager – Strategic Sourcing to join our dynamic Sourcing team based in Pasir Gudang. The role supports the Program Manager in planning, execution and monitoring of programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Program Manager in the orchestration and execution of program objectives, ensuring smooth operations and successful outcomes.
- Perform checks and validation on any data migration and BOMs.
- Organise program requirements and meetings with key stakeholders, supporting internal and external engagements.
- Follow up on supplier deadlines and report schedule misses based on project timelines.
- Maintain communication between project teams, stakeholders and external partners, providing regular updates and reports on program status.
- Assist in follow‑ups to meet project deadlines.
- Work with the assigned Program Manager to support supply‑chain program deliverables, reporting on project status or KPIs.
- Support demand forecasting, inventory planning and risk mitigation with Planning teams.
- Participate in make‑vs‑buy analysis and supplier transitions, ensuring next steps are followed through.
- Provide technical support for design and manufacturability, assembly and test attributes; review engineering changes and assess impact on materials/supply‑chain.
- Engage in process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of product development and supply‑chain processes.
- Perform duties as assigned to mitigate risks and review change management.
- Travel to supplier sites as required.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Project Management or a related field. An advanced degree may enhance prospects.
Experience
- 3‑5 years of experience in procurement, category management, commodity management or sourcing roles, with 1‑2 years of hands‑on project or large program management.
- Experience managing global suppliers and commodity categories (electronics, metals, plastics, mechanicals, chemicals, etc.) and ability to read and interpret technical documents such as drawings, blueprints, product specifications, material tolerances and finish specifications.
- Understanding of cost savings, experience in supplier negotiations, and global or SEA exposure is a plus.
- Lean Six‑Sigma training and/or certification highly advantageous.
Skills
- Results‑oriented, customer‑focused, self‑motivated, capable of managing and prioritising multiple tasks with minimal direction, and proactive attitude.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
- Experience and knowledge of semiconductor equipment manufacturing highly desirable.
