About the Role
Brooks Automation is hiring a Director of Supply Chain for a new semiconductor manufacturing plant in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The role reports to the Operations Management organization and will build and lead supply chain operations for this greenfield site, encompassing strategic planning, sourcing, logistics, and continuous improvement to support the company’s growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Supply Chain Leadership
- Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with business growth, customer demand, and operational objectives.
- Drive supply‑chain excellence through process standardization, best practices, digitalization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a key member of the Malaysia Operations leadership team, supporting business planning and decision‑making.
- Procurement & Strategic Sourcing
- Lead global and regional sourcing strategies for direct and indirect materials.
- Drive supplier localization initiatives, value engineering programs, and cost reduction projects.
- Negotiate commercial agreements, long‑term supply contracts, pricing, and supplier performance expectations.
- Collaborate with Global Commodity teams to implement Kanban and other replenishment programs.
- Planning & Materials Management
- Oversee demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, capacity planning, and material availability.
- Ensure achievement of service levels, inventory targets, and production continuity.
- Lead escalation management for material shortages and supply disruptions.
- Supplier Relationship Management
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance through KPI scorecards covering delivery, quality, responsiveness, capacity, and forecast commitments.
- Lead corrective action and risk mitigation activities for underperforming suppliers.
- Logistics & Operations Support
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics strategies to support global manufacturing and customer requirements.
- Optimize freight, warehousing, transportation costs, and trade compliance practices.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies across all supply‑chain activities.
- Cost & Efficiency Management
- Develop and execute cost‑reduction strategies while maintaining service, quality, and delivery performance.
- Identify and implement productivity improvement opportunities through process optimization and automation.
- Drive inventory optimization initiatives to improve inventory turns and reduce excess inventory.
- Quality, Audit & Compliance Leadership
- Develop and implement supply‑chain quality strategies aligned with the corporate QMS and customer requirements.
- Partner with Quality, Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to promote a culture of quality and compliance.
- Ensure successful completion of customer, certification, internal, and external audits.
- Risk Management & Business Continuity
- Develop risk assessment and mitigation strategies for geopolitical, supplier, capacity, and logistics risks.
- Lead contingency planning to minimize operational disruptions.
- Financial & Performance Management
- Manage supply‑chain budgets, inventory investment, PPV savings, working capital, and productivity initiatives.
- Drive measurable improvements in cost savings, inventory turns, on‑time delivery, supplier performance, and material availability.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field with at least 15 years of supply‑chain leadership experience.
- Deep understanding of semiconductor supply‑chain dynamics, including procurement, logistics, and supplier management.
- Proven track record of leading and managing supply‑chain teams and delivering measurable results.
- Strong analytical and strategic planning skills with the ability to align supply‑chain activities with business goals.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to influence decision‑making through detailed analysis, innovative recommendations, and demonstrated expertise.
- Experience managing cross‑functional project teams to create material value across multiple product lines.
- Proficiency in supply‑chain technologies and ERP applications; Oracle Cloud/SAP S4 Hana experience is required.
