About the Role
Brooks is a leader in semiconductor automation and is expanding its presence in Malaysia. We seek an experienced Assistant Program Manager – Strategic Sourcing to join the Sourcing team in Pasir Gudang, Johor, and support the Program Manager in planning, execution, and monitoring of programs to align with organizational goals and ensure effective communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Program Management – assist the Program Manager in orchestrating and executing program objectives for smooth operations and successful outcomes.
- Perform checks/validation on any data migration, BOMs.
- Organize program requirements and meetings with key stakeholders, supporting internal and external engagements.
- Follow up on supplier deadlines and report schedule misses based on project timelines.
- Facilitate communication between project teams, stakeholders, and external partners, providing regular updates and reports on program status.
- Assist in follow‑ups to meet project deadlines.
- Provide technical support for design for manufacturability, assembly, and test attributes, including reviewing engineering changes and assessing materials/supply‑chain impact.
- Engage in process improvements to continually increase the efficiency and effectiveness of product development and supply‑chain processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure risks are mitigated and change management is constantly reviewed.
- Travel to supplier sites for business‑related purposes when required.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Project Management or related field. An advanced degree may enhance prospects.
- Experience: 3–5 years in procurement, category management, commodity management, or sourcing roles, with 1–2 years successfully managing projects or components of large programs.
- Experience with global suppliers and commodity categories (electronics, metals, plastics, mechanicals, chemicals) and the ability to read and interpret technical documents including drawings, blueprints, product specifications, material tolerances, and finish specifications.
- Understanding of cost savings, exposure to supplier negotiations, and global or SEA experience.
- Lean Six‑Sigma training and/or certification is highly advantageous.
- Skills: Results‑oriented, customer‑focused, self‑motivated, capable of managing and prioritizing multiple tasks with minimal direction, proactive attitude, strong written and verbal communication, working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project; knowledge of semiconductor equipment manufacturing highly desirable; supplier relationship management; problem solving and risk management.
- Performance indicators: Annual cost savings, supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, responsiveness), commodity strategy execution, supply‑risk mitigation effectiveness, contract coverage & compliance, NPI sourcing readiness and timeliness.
Work Location & Flexibility
Onsite – Pasir Gudang, Johor. Work arrangements may include a mix of in‑office and remote work, depending on the nature of the role and business needs. Specific expectations will be shared during the interview process.
