The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of accounting experience, knowledge of MFRS/SST, and proficiency in SAP B1 and Excel. Logistics or freight forwarding exposure is a plus. Working in Penang office with standard hours.

This role will act as the key support and second-in-command to the Manager, Finance & Accounting. This role is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations, full set accounts, month-end closing, financial reporting, intercompany matters, tax compliance, audit coordination, and internal controls for Century Distribution Systems (Malaysia). The candidate must be hands-on, reliable, and able to guide junior team members when required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the Manager, Finance & Accounting in managing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring timely month-end closing.
Prepare and maintain full set of accounts, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
Ensure accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
Prepare monthly financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for management review.
Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on collection matters with relevant operational teams.
Handle intercompany transactions, including recharge arrangements, settlements, and monthly reconciliations.
Perform reconciliations between operational systems and accounting records where required.
Assist in cash flow monitoring and preparation of cash flow reports and forecasts.
Support statutory audits, tax audits, and liaise with auditors, tax agents, company secretary, bankers, and other stakeholders.
Assist with tax compliance matters, including SST, withholding tax, e-Invoicing, and other regulatory requirements.
Review the work of junior accounting team members and provide guidance where necessary.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and support finance-related projects as assigned.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by management from time to time.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MIA membership or professional accounting qualification will be an added advantage.
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with exposure to full set accounts and month-end closing.
Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or service industries will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of MFRS, SST, withholding tax, and e-Invoicing requirements is preferred.
Experience with SAP Business One, Microsoft Excel, and e-invoicing will be an added advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Candidates with less experience will be considered for the position of Senior Accountant.
