Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to uphold high standards of food presentation and hygiene for patients and visitors. The role involves preparing, storing, and delivering meals, maintaining cleanliness, and assisting with catering projects.

No prior experience is required as on-the-job training will be provided; SPM or equivalent is the minimum education. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential to support hospital dietary services.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with any food industry.
• Hospial dietary service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items by ensuring both quality and quantity.
• Ensure that food items are appropriately arranged on plates and platters.
• Prepare and assemble portions in accordance with the menu.
• Store food in an appropriate manner.
• Ensure food items are properly rotated in storage.
• Dispose of expired products and record accordingly.
• Arrange plates and food items neatly on trays.
• Ensure cleanliness of kitchen by following cleaning and sanitation guidelines.
• Manage transportation of food and supplies; maintain temperatures within required range.
• Deliver food to the appropriate room or person; collect and discard meals within stipulated time.
• Manage food inventory and supplies according to par level.
• Wash dishes and flatware; operate and maintain dishwashers.
• Perform light bookkeeping duties.
• Report kitchen malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
• Inspect food items and equipment regularly.
• Assist with food preparation for catering projects.
• Any other duties as instructed by the organization.

• Knowledge of customer service related.
