Job summary

Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to join our Finance team. You will oversee financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, maintain internal controls, and support the hotel's financial objectives.

This full-time role offers exposure to cross-functional collaboration within a leading Kuala Lumpur hospitality destination. You will prepare monthly financial reports, manage reconciliations, review schedules and GLs, and supervise accounts payable and cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualifications are an added advantage.
• 3–5 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in hospitality, with 1–2 years in a supervisory role.

Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Manager to join our Finance team. You will play a key role in overseeing the hotel's financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting the achievement of the hotel's financial objectives. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your financial expertise, lead key finance functions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the continued success of one of Kuala Lumpur's leading hospitality destinations.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Prepare monthly financial reports
• Ensure the timely submission of monthly financial reports within five working days after month-end, in accordance with established standards and procedures.
• Perform and review reconciliations for bank accounts, receivables, and payables.
• Review monthly financial schedules, trial balances, inventory reports, prepaid expenses, deferred charges, and depreciation schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure all purchasing requests and purchase orders comply with the hotel's procurement policies and procedures.
• Monitor the timely payment of taxes, statutory contributions, and business licenses.
• Supervise the preparation and maintenance of fixed asset and inventory records.
• Maintain proper custody of accounting records and financial documentation.
• Review invoices for payment, ensuring appropriate approvals, supporting documents, and General Ledger coding.
• Review the General Ledger to ensure accuracy before month-end closing.
• Assist in coordinating external audits and liaise with tax agents when required.
• Monitor daily cash flow to ensure sufficient funds are available to meet the hotel's financial obligations.
• Collaborate with the Executive Sous Chef and Food & Beverage team to monitor food and beverage costs, outlet recipes, and portion controls for effective cost management.
• Oversee the Accounts Payable, General Cashier, and Cost Control functions to ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards.
• Supervise, coach, and evaluate the performance of team members within the assigned sections.
• Support continuous process improvements and carry out additional duties as assigned by Management.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional accounting qualifications are an added advantage.
• Minimum 3–5 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in the hospitality industry, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or assistant managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliation, and internal controls.
• Good understanding of Malaysian taxation, statutory compliance, and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach, and motivate a finance team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders.
