We are seeking a proactive and experienced Assistant Finance Manager – Tax & Treasury to support the Finance Manager in overseeing tax compliance, treasury operations, financial reporting, and process improvement. The role will also involve supervising junior finance staff and coordinating with internal stakeholders, auditors, tax authorities, and banking partners.
The successful candidate should be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Advisory
Oversee and support direct and indirect tax compliance, includingSST submissions, tax reporting, reconciliations, and payment schedules.
Review tax computations, supporting schedules, tax provisions, and related journal entries.
Manage e-Invoicing reconciliation to ensure alignment between submissions and accounting records.
Support tax queries, audits, assessments, and correspondence with tax authorities.
Provide preliminary tax analysis on business transactions, includingstamp duty and indirect tax implications.
Monitor changes in Malaysian tax laws, SST, e-Invoicing requirements, and other regulatory developments.
Treasury & Cash Management
Prepare and review weekly and monthlycash flow forecasts, liquidity reports, and funding requirements.
Monitor cash balances and fund utilisation to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
Assist in managing banking facilities, including loan applications, documentation, drawdowns, repayments, and annual bank reviews.
Monitor compliance with bank covenants and coordinate routine banking matters.
Support bank account opening/closure and online banking administration.
Maintain accurate treasury records, Group master listings, and banking information.
Prepare and review financial analysis, budget comparisons, and variance analysis to support management decision-making.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities, particularly tax and treasury-related accounts.
Review financial data and identify key trends, risks, and opportunities.
Assist with group consolidation and management reporting where required.
Audit, Compliance & Process Improvement
Coordinate and support statutory, tax, and internal audits by preparing schedules and relevant documentation.
Assist in responding to audit queries, tax notices, and regulatory matters.
Identify and implement improvements to finance, tax, treasury, reporting, and internal control processes.
Participate in finance-related projects and provide financial insights and recommendations.
Perform other finance-related and ad-hoc duties as required.
People & Stakeholder Management
Supervise, guide, and review the work of Accounts Executives and junior finance team members.
Coordinate with internal departments, auditors, tax authorities, banks, and other external parties.
Ensure finance activities are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree inAccounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualification such asACCA, CPA, CA, MIA, ICAEW, MICPA, or equivalentis an advantage.
3–7 years of relevant experiencein accounting, finance, taxation, or treasury, depending on seniority.
Hands‑on experience inMalaysian tax, SST compliance, and e‑Invoicing reconciliation.
Experience in treasury, cash flow management, and banking facilities is preferred.
Experience supervising junior finance staff is an advantage.
Audit experience and exposure togroup consolidationwould be an added advantage.
Good knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
Proficient inMicrosoft Excel, PowerPoint, accounting systems, and ERP platformssuch as SAP or Navision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Well‑organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
