Position Summary
The Assistant Finance Manager supports the Finance Manager in overseeing daily finance operations, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and financial analysis. This role requires strong technical knowledge in taxation (corporate tax, SST, PCB, withholding tax) and solid experience in full-set accounting. The candidate will ensure accurate reporting, timely submissions, and effective internal controls aligned with Malaysian accounting and tax standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Assist in managing full-set accounts, including AR, AP, GL, asset management, and bank reconciliation.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis.
- Support year‑end closing and audit processes, ensuring accurate documentation and timely completion.
- Monitor cash flow, budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards (MFRS) and company financial policies.
2. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and review corporate tax computations, CP204 updates, PCB, CP39 and monthly payroll tax compliance.
- Manage SST submissions, exemptions and reconciliation of SST accounts.
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns, audit schedules and liaison with LHDN, Customs and tax agents.
- Handle withholding tax matters (Section 109/107A/109B) and ensure correct deduction and remittance.
- Provide tax advisory for business transactions, vendor contracts, employee benefits and cross‑border payments.
- Stay updated with tax law changes and implement compliance updates within the finance team.
3. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Strengthen internal control systems, SOPs and financial workflows.
- Implement cost‑control initiatives and perform financial risk assessments.
- Support digitalisation efforts (ERP, accounting software, automation tools).
4. Treasury & Cash Management
- Monitor bank balances, cash flow requirements and payment scheduling.
- Review supplier payments, payroll processing and employee claims.
- Maintain good relationships with banks and financial institutions.
5. Team Support & Leadership
- Supervise junior finance staff and review their work for accuracy.
- Provide training and guidance on tax matters and financial procedures.
- Assist Finance Manager in preparing reports for management meetings and decision‑making.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Certification
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, MICPA, MIA) is an added advantage.
- Tax‑related certification/training preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in accounting and taxation.
- Experience in corporate tax, SST and statutory reporting is mandatory.
- Experience handling audits and liaising with authorities (LHDN, Customs, EPF, SOCSO, HRDF).
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of Malaysian tax laws and MFRS accounting standards.
- Proficient in accounting software (SQL, Autocount, SAP, etc.) and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
