Job summary

Laser Industries Sdn Bhd in Kedah is seeking an Assistant Engineer to support mechanical design and production activities. You will liaise with engineers to gather requirements, create CAD designs, calculate dimensions, and describe production methods and equipment used.

The role requires a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, plus knowledge of metal stamping and sheet metal fabrication. You will contribute to process optimization, documentation, and ensuring compliance with

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in metal fabrication is advantageous.
• Self-motivated, assertive and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Strong analytical, logic and problem solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of material properties & design guidelines for plastics & sheet metal.
• Understanding of manufacturing operations & assembly processes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to gather product and structural requirements.
• Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and material requirements.
• Describe production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used).
• Create detailed CAD designs and diagrams illustrating workflow.
• Prepare rough sketches and review them with the engineering team.

• Create operation and maintenance manuals for existing products.

Describe production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used)

Create detailed designs with computer-aided design (CAD) software

Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow

Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team

Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality

Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards

Create manuals that describe existing products’ operation, features and maintenance

Requirements

Candidate must possess a recognized Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent academic experience.

Having experience in metal fabrication is an added advantage

Self-motivated, assertive and results driven with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Possess strong analytical / logic and problem solving skill.

Good interpersonal and communication skills in both writing and verbal.

Have basic knowledge in material properties & design guidelines of mechanical commodity such as plastic & sheet metal.
