Job summary

Ferrotec Manufacturing Malaysia seeks a skilled mechanical technician to assemble vacuum chambers and subassemblies from blueprints and work instructions. The role includes fitting, alignment, and leak-testing, using hand tools and precision instruments to meet tight tolerances and cleanliness standards.

You will interpret results, document data for QA, and assist with corrective actions and continuous improvement. Opportunities for training in the United States are available.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Experience with helium leak detection equipment is highly desirable.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with vacuum components and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of vacuum principles and leak testing methods.
• Good communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and quality.
• Having US Visa is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assemble vacuum chambers, pressure vessels, and subassemblies per blueprints and work instructions.
• Mechanical fitting and alignment of components including flanges, gaskets, O-rings, valves, and connectors.
• Use hand tools, torque wrenches, and precision measuring instruments.
• Ensure assemblies meet tolerances and cleanliness requirements.
• Set up and operate helium leak detection equipment and perform leak tests.
• Interpret test results and record data for quality assurance.
• Identify leaks and assist with corrective actions.
• Maintain records of assembly steps, leak test results, and rework.
• Follow cleanroom and contamination control; report non-conformances.
• Support continuous improvement and 5S in the work area.

Job description

Assemble vacuum chambers, pressure vessels, and subassemblies according to blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.

Perform mechanical fitting and alignment of components, including flanges, gaskets, O-rings, valves, and connectors.

Use hand tools, torque wrenches, and precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers).

Ensure assemblies meet specified tolerances and cleanliness requirements.

Set up and operate helium leak detection equipment (e.g., mass spectrometer leak detector).

Perform gross and fine leak tests using sniffing, bombing, and vacuum decay methods as applicable.

Interpret test results and accurately record data for quality assurance.

Identify and troubleshoot sources of leaks; assist with corrective actions.

Documentation & Quality:

Maintain accurate records of assembly steps, leak test results, and rework performed.

Follow cleanroom and contamination control protocols when required.

Report non-conformances and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives in the work area.

Requirements:

Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Experience with helium leak detection equipment is highly desirable.

Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with vacuum components and systems.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
