Job summary

Knowles Electronics (M) Sdn. Bhd. seeks an Assembled Process Engineer to own and sustain assembly processes for EMI filters and capacitor assemblies in Malaysia.

You will drive day-to-day production support, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions to enhance yield and quality while supporting NPI and process transfer from design to manufacturing. The role interfaces with global engineering and QA, ensuring robust transfer, qualification and long-term manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, or related Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in the process engineering area.
• Having experience with MLCC production is preferred.
• Familiar with six sigma, SPC, DOE, IATF16949, etc.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Job description

The Assembled Process Engineer role supports and sustains the manufacturing processes for Knowles EMI filter products, leaded capacitors, and custom ceramic capacitor assemblies at Knowles Capacitor Malaysia (KCM). The role focuses on process ownership, stability, yield improvement, and continuous improvement for assembly operations, working closely with Product Engineering, Quality, and Operations.

This position interfaces closely with the global engineering organization, including the Knowles Precision Devices (KPD) R&D center in Norwich, which serves as the global design authority for MLCC, planar array, EMI filter, and custom assembly products. The Process Engineer ensures robust transfer, qualification, and long-term manufacturability of assembly processes at KCM.

1. Process Ownership & Manufacturing Support

• Own and sustain assembly manufacturing processes for EMI filters and custom capacitor assemblies.
• Ensure manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and process controls are current, accurate, and followed.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support to production to resolve process, yield, and quality issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for process deviations and failures.

2. Yield Improvement & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor and analyze process yield, scrap, and defect trends; drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead process optimization activities to improve yield, throughput, cost, and process robustness.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving methodologies where applicable.

3. NPI & Process Transfer Support

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and transfer of products from design to manufacturing.
• Work with R&D Engineering and QA to define and release process flows, PFMEA, control plans, and manufacturing readiness.
• Support process qualification activities, validation builds, and capability studies.

4. Quality & Compliance

• Work closely with Quality to support qualification plans, validation reports, audits, and customer requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485 where applicable).
• Support customer and internal audits related to assembly processes.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of previous working experience in the process engineering area.
• Having experience with MLCC production is preferred.
