Job summary

Axonect is seeking an experienced Fortinet Security Gateway Engineer to design, implement, and operate carrier-grade Fortinet security platforms within a telecommunications environment. The role emphasizes FortiGate NGFW expertise, VPN proficiency, and high-availability networking to safeguard critical services.

The candidate will lead security policy development, perform hardening and compliance activities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable connectivity

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in network and cyber security engineering, architecture, and operations.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing Fortinet security solutions within enterprise or telecommunications environments.
• Strong hands-on experience in Telco Core Networks.
• Experience working with Ericsson Core Network technologies.
• Proven experience designing and supporting large-scale, high-availability security infrastructures.
• Experience working within carrier-grade telecommunications networks, service provider environments, or large enterprise networks.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex security transformation, migration, and modernization initiatives.
• Experience providing technical leadership and architectural governance across multiple technology domains.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, and support Fortinet Security Gateway solutions
• Manage and administer FortiGate Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW)
• Implement and maintain security policies, access controls, and firewall rules
• Support IPSec VPN, SSL VPN, and secure remote access solutions
• Perform security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities
• Monitor and troubleshoot security incidents, network issues, and service outages
• Support carrier-grade telecommunications infrastructure and critical business services
• Conduct firewall rule reviews, policy optimisation, and capacity planning
• Participate in change management, release activities, and major incident resolution
• Develop operational procedures, technical documentation, and knowledge articles

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fortinet Security Gateway Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance carrier-grade security infrastructure within a telecommunications environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and optimization of Fortinet security platforms, ensuring the availability, performance, and security of critical network services.

The role requires strong expertise in FortiGate firewalls, network security, VPN technologies, routing and switching, and operational support within large-scale enterprise or telecommunications environments.
