Job summary

MTSC INNOVATION in Perai, Penang, is seeking an Applications Engineer on a full-time basis to translate technical concepts into practical automation solutions, working with customers and internal teams to design, develop, and implement applications.

You will bridge product development and customer requirements, applying circuit design and system integration knowledge, and contributing to ongoing project improvements across a range of industrial applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in applications engineering or a similar technical role in electrical/electronic sector.
• Strong understanding of circuit design and system integration.
• Proficiency with engineering software tools and simulation applications.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with cobot and PLC applications is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyse customer requirements and translate them into technical specifications and application designs.
• Develop and test automation solutions tailored to specific customer needs.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers throughout the implementation phase.
• Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to refine and improve applications.
• Conduct feasibility studies and produce technical reports and documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in deployed applications.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Participate in product demonstrations and technical presentations to clients.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the applications engineering team.
• Tracking project progress and customer needs.

About the role

We are seeking an Applications Engineer to join MTSC INNOVATION in Perai, Penang on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be at the forefront of translating technical concepts into practical solutions, working closely with customers and internal teams to design, develop, and implement machine and automation engineering applications. This position is strategically important to our organisation as it directly impacts our ability to deliver innovative solutions that meet market demands and enhance our competitive advantage. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between product development and customer requirements, ensuring our solutions are optimised for real‑world applications.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline
• 2+ years of experience in applications engineering or a similar technical role within the electrical/electronic engineering sector
• Strong understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles, including circuit design and system integration
• Proficiency in engineering software tools and simulation applications relevant to the industry
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to think creatively to resolve complex technical challenges
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams whilst managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency in technical documentation and report writing
• Experience with cobot and PLC applications is a plus.
