Job summary

Anton Paar Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an Application Specialist based in Selangor to support sales through technical demonstrations, testing, and proposal preparation. You will manage application testing, develop measurement methods, and provide lab support for the Rheo, ASC, PC, FTIR and VISCOQC lines.

Requirements include a BSc or MSc in a related field, 2+ years in analytical lab instrumentation sales, and strong English/Bahasa Melayu. Travel within Malaysia and overseas may be required.

Job description

Anton Paar Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a whole owned subsidiary of the Austrian company Anton Paar GmbH, is a world leader in the measurement of density, concentration and CO2, material characterization, microwave assisted digestion/synthesis and in the field of rheometry. We are looking for a new Application Specialist based in Selangor, who will be responsible to support sales specialist on sales process.

Responsibilities:

Application & Sample Testing

• Conduct sample testing, application measurements and feasibility studies for assigned product lines.
• Develop and optimize measurement methods according to customer requirements.
• Prepare application test reports and provide technical recommendations.
• Creating support tickets for sample testing and troubleshooting.

Product & Sales Support

• Provide application and technical support to the sales team throughout the sales process.
• Conduct product demonstrations and proof-of-concept testing.
• Support technical discussions, customer evaluations and preparation of application-related proposals.
• Identify potential application and cross-selling opportunities.

Product Line Responsibility

• Take primary application responsibility for Rheo, ASC, PC, FTIR and VISCOQC product lines.
• Develop and maintain strong product and application knowledge for assigned product lines.
• Progressively develop competency in additional product lines according to business and organizational needs.

Customer Support

• Conduct and support instrument installation, commissioning and customer training for the assigned product lines.
• Provide first-line technical and application support to customers.
• Performing pharma qualifications on customer site.
• Escalate complex technical or application issues to the Senior Application Specialist when required.

Application Documentation & Demo Equipment

• Maintain application methods, reports and relevant technical documentation.
• Maintaining and supervising the demo database for the assigned region incl. inventory for the demo stock (entering of instruments into the database, creation of loans, shipment, checking, scrapping).
• Responsible for the presentation lab, especially for the assigned product lines.
• Support exhibitions, seminars and other customer or marketing activities.

Teamwork & Knowledge Development

• Work closely with the Senior Application Specialist to ensure appropriate application support and technical backup.
• Share application knowledge and best practices with sales and application colleagues.
• Participate in product, application and technical training to continuously develop product competency.

Customer Coverage

• Provide application and technical support to customers and sales teams throughout Malaysia.
• Answering technical customer requirements on the phone and email.
• Coordinate customer visits according to product expertise, customer requirements and business priorities.

Your profile:

• Education in Chemistry, Physics or Material, Mechatronics, Electronics/Electrical Engineering required (BSc or MSc degree)
• At least two (2) years of experience in technical sales of analytical laboratory instrumentation (e.g. rheometry, particle size characterization, X-ray diffraction/ X-ray fluorescence etc.)
• Strong entrepreneurial mind-set, and MUST possess a can-do & win mentality
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills through all media
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, can do attitude, able to work under own initiative and is not afraid to handle customer’s rejection
• Valid driving license and own a car
• Willingness to travel within the region as well as overseas (i.e. product training)
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills
• Business level in Bahasa Melayu and English
