Job summary
Hitachi Energy Malaysia is seeking an Application Engineer to serve as a key technical specialist for protection, control, teleprotection and substation automation across utility, transport and industrial customers. You will ensure technical excellence across the project lifecycle, from design to commissioning and lifecycle support.
This role requires a protection engineering professional who collaborates with customers and regional teams, performing relay settings, protection coordination
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in protection and control engineering or power system automation.
- Strong knowledge of protection relays and schemes for transmission and distribution.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical focal point for protection and control solutions on transmission and distribution projects.
- Design, configure, test and commission protection relay systems and schemes.
- Perform protection coordination studies, relay settings calculations and fault analysis.
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting and lifecycle service activities.
- Lead teleprotection and communication-assisted protection initiatives.
- Integrate protection with RTU/SCADA and substation automation platforms (IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3).
- Coordinate homologation, product approvals and technical documentation with customers.
- Support upgrades, migrations, obsolescence management and end-of-life strategies.
