Job summary

AiTEN Robotics in Malaysia is looking for an AMR / AGV Solution Planning Engineer to support our regional work and engineering teams. You will translate customer operations into practical automation, performing site surveys, material flow analysis and CAD layout development.

You will collaborate with our team in China, validate fleet sizing, and propose AMR/AGV configurations. Occasional travel within Malaysia and Southeast Asia is expected as projects progress.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical/Automation-related fields.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Good command of English; Mandarin preferred is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct customer site surveys to gather requirements and constraints.
• Prepare AutoCAD layouts for AMR/AGV projects with routes and stations.
• Analyze aisle width, turning space and site conditions for feasibility.
• Develop practical automation solutions considering throughput and safety.
• Plan AMR/AGV routes, traffic and control points.
• Recommend robot models based on payload and operating needs.
• Compute required robots from material flow and throughput targets.
• Review layouts and validate fleet size and design with the team.
• Support simulation by importing CAD layouts into RDS software.
• Prepare technical proposals and assist customer discussions.
• Coordinate with engineering team in China to implement projects.
• Travel within Malaysia and SE Asia for site surveys.

AMR / AGV Solution Planning Engineer

About the Role

AiTEN Robotics is looking for an AMR / AGV Solution Planning Engineer to support our growing business in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

You will work closely with our regional sales team, customers and engineering team in China to develop practical AMR / AGV solutions — from site survey and material flow analysis to CAD layout, robot selection, fleet sizing and solution validation.

We are looking for someone who can understand customer operations and translate their requirements into practical and workable automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct customer site surveys and collect operational, material flow and technical requirements.
• Prepare AutoCAD layouts for AMR / AGV projects, including routes, workstations, pallet locations, charging stations and traffic areas.
• Analyze aisle width, turning space, pickup/drop-off positions and other site conditions to ensure AMR / AGV feasibility.
• Develop practical automation solutions considering throughput, space utilization, human-machine separation, traffic flow and safety requirements.
• Plan AMR / AGV routes, including one-way/two-way traffic, circulation routes, avoidance areas and traffic control points.
• Recommend suitable robot models and configurations based on payload, lifting height, pallet type and operating requirements.
• Calculate the required number of robots based on material flow, cycle time, travel distance and required throughput.
• Review customer or competitor layouts and validate proposed fleet size and system design when required.
• Support basic simulation and solution validation by importing CAD layouts into RDS / simulation software and adjusting operating parameters.
• Prepare technical solution proposals and support customer presentations and technical discussions.
• Coordinate closely with AiTEN’s engineering team in China to refine solutions and support project implementation.
• Travel within Malaysia and occasionally to other Southeast Asian countries for site surveys, customer meetings and project support.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Good proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Able to understand customer processes, material flow and technical requirements.
• Able to develop practical layouts and automation solutions based on actual site conditions.
• Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Comfortable communicating directly with customers and engineering teams.
• Willing to travel when required.
• Good command of English is required.
• Mandarin proficiency is preferred, as this role requires regular technical communication and coordination with our engineering team in China.

Preferred Experience

• Around 1 year or more of experience in AGV / AMR solution planning is preferred.
• Candidates without direct AMR / AGV experience are also welcome if they have relevant solution planning or pre-sales engineering experience in:
• Warehouse automation
• Conveyor systems
• Material handling systems
• ASRS
• Factory automation
• Robotics / system integration
• Experience with an AMR / AGV manufacturer, system integrator, KUKA or similar industrial automation solution provider would be an advantage.
• Experience in fleet sizing, cycle-time calculation, material-flow analysis or simulation would be an advantage.
• Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage for local customer communication.

Training & Development

AiTEN Robotics will provide product, AMR / AGV solution planning and RDS-related training.

The successful candidate will receive further technical training in robot selection, solution planning, fleet sizing, simulation and AMR / AGV project implementation.
