Job summary

VCS Interior Sdn Bhd, a leading interior fit-out and renovation specialist based in Malaysia, is seeking an Accounts Executive to manage day-to-day accounting tasks and support project cost control. The role covers AP/AR/GL, financial reporting, and SST compliance within a dynamic design-and-build environment.

You will work with the management team on budgeting, cost tracking, and revenue recognition, ensuring accurate records and timely statutory submissions.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
• Minimum 2–4 years accounting experience in construction, design & build, or project-based industries.
• Knowledge of MFRS and Malaysian SST regulations.
• Strong MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic analysis).
• Familiarity with project costing, progress claims, and construction documentation is highly advantageous.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and financial discipline.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Handle AP, AR, GL entries, and bank reconciliation.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, cash flow summaries, and variance analysis.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records aligned with MFRS.
• Support external auditors during annual audit processes and ensure timely audit completion.
• Monitor project budgets, work-in-progress (WIP), costing, and claims.
• Track project expenditures and verify supplier invoices against purchase orders, delivery orders, and project progress.
• Prepare monthly project cost reports to support project managers and management.
• Assist in preparing client progress claims, VO documentation, and revenue recognition.
• Process supplier invoices, staff claims, subcontractor payments, and utility bills in a timely manner.
• Ensure proper verification and approval workflows before payment issuance.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with clients on overdue payments.
• Reconcile supplier statements and maintain updated aging reports.
• Assist in SST submissions and statutory filings.
• Maintain proper documentation, filing, and digital record management in compliance with audit requirements.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, tax agents, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
• Support HR/administration functions such as payroll data preparation (if required) and staff claim verification.
• Assist management with ad hoc financial tasks, analysis, or improvement initiatives.
