The Accounts Executive is responsible for assisting manage statutory books, general ledger accounting, cash flow, and retail financial operations for the Korean supermarket business. This role involves daily POS reconciliation, outlet visits for cash and stock verification, banking transactions, payroll processing, and preparation of management reports. The position also liaises with tax agents, auditors, banks, and relevant authorities to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
The role requires regular visits to supermarket outlets for operational checks, cash audits, and stock counts, as well as handling banking matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintain full set of statutory books of accounts, General Ledger, journals, fixed assets, and financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually);
- Assist in maintain General Ledger master data, review manual journal entries, and perform balance sheet reconciliations;
- Prepare accurate monthly management reports in accordance with approved accounting standards on a timely basis;
- Manage cash flow and prepare weekly/monthly cash position reports to support effective deployment of Company funds;
- Perform daily POS sales reconciliation against day-end settlement reports and investigate any discrepancies or cash shortages;
- Conduct regular supermarket outlet visits to verify cash handling, stock movement, and operational compliance;
- Carry out daily cash register balancing and ensure all transactions are properly accounted for;
- Monitor cashier practices to prevent mishandling of money and safeguard Company assets against loss or theft;
- Coordinate monthly stock counts and periodic cash audits at all outlets;
- Handle banking matters including cheque deposits, cash deposits, Telegraphic Transfer (TT), Letter of Credit, Bank Guarantee, and Bankers’ Acceptance applications;
- Process foreign workers’ and part-time payroll including salaries, overtime, allowances, and expense claims;
- Prepare tax computations and liaise with tax agents to ensure timely submission;
- Liaise with external auditors on internal controls, annual accounts, and taxation matters;
- Handle matters relating to company secretarial requirements and relevant government authorities;
- Ensure proper documentation, filing, and record keeping to support all accounting entries with efficient retrieval;
- Provide support for ad-hoc accounting and operational finance assignments as required.
Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Accounting / LCCI Higher / Graduate Diploma / Partial ACCA or equivalent;
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in retail / supermarket / FMCG environment; Fresh graduate is welcome to apply;
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia (Mandarin is an added advantage);
- Detail-oriented, independent, and able to complete tasks accurately with minimal supervision;
- Strong sense of responsibility and positive working attitude;
- Computer literate in Excel, Word, accounting systems, POS systems, and ERP software;
- Willing to travel to supermarket outlets for operational checks and audits;
- Willing to work in Bukit Jalil.
