Job summary

Oriental Property Management SDN. BHD. is seeking an Account Manager to oversee Finance & Accounts operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger, and to lead the finance team in delivering accurate reporting and strong controls.

You will ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, drive cash flow management, and collaborate with management and clients to improve processes and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance & Accounts Department, including AP, AR and General Ledger activities.
  • Lead, supervise and develop the Finance team, including work allocation and training.
  • Review and finalise monthly management accounts, financial statements, reports and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and improve accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Oversee payment processes and financial controls, including bank reconciliations and online payments.
  • Monitor cash flow, bank balances and receivables, including maintenance charges and sinking funds.
  • Act as liaison between clients, Management Offices, and Finance team for financial queries.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents and statutory authorities for audits and compliance.
  • Oversee tax and statutory matters and ensure submissions and records are maintained.
  • Prepare financial reports and presentations for management and AGMs.
  • Conduct internal Finance meetings and action item follow-ups.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Investigate accounting discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment within the Finance team.
  • Audit & Compliance: liaise with external auditors and site management to complete financial audits on time.

Job description

Account Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall Finance & Accounts operations, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger (GL). The role involves leading and developing the finance team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing cash flow and collections, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, coordinating audits, liaising with clients and stakeholders, and implementing effective financial controls and process improvements to support operational efficiency and business objectives.

Key responsibilities

1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance & Accounts Department, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing.

2. Lead, supervise and develop the Finance team, including work allocation, performance monitoring, training, coaching and mentoring of staff to ensure operational efficiency and achievement of deadlines.

3. Review and finalise monthly management accounts, financial statements, reports and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely submission to management and clients.

4. Collaborate with senior management to develop, implement and improve accounting policies, procedures, SOPs and internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

5. Oversee payment processes and financial controls, including review of payment vouchers, supporting documents, approvals, bank reconciliations and online payment processes.

6. Monitor cash flow, bank balances and receivables, including maintenance charges, sinking fund and other outstanding amounts, and ensure timely follow-up on collections.

7. Act as a liaison between clients, Management Offices, JMB/MC committee members and the Finance team, addressing financial queries, resolving accounting issues and providing appropriate financial guidance.

8. Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents and relevant statutory authorities to facilitate audits and ensure timely compliance with tax and statutory requirements.

9. Oversee tax and statutory matters, including SST, income tax matters, e-Invoicing and other applicable regulatory requirements, and ensure necessary submissions and records are properly maintained.

10. Prepare financial reports and presentations for management meetings, committee meetings and AGMs, and provide explanations and recommendations on financial performance and significant financial matters.

11. Conduct regular internal Finance meetings and follow up on action items, ensuring proper communication, accountability and timely completion of tasks.

12. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory requirements and industry practices, and recommend appropriate changes to accounting procedures where necessary.

13. Investigate accounting discrepancies, unusual transactions and control weaknesses, and implement corrective and preventive measures to strengthen financial controls.

14. Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, financial reporting, internal controls and client satisfaction.

15. Foster a positive and collaborative working environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, continuous learning and professional development within the Finance team.

16. Audit & Compliance Liaise with external auditors and site management teams to ensure all site financial audits are completed accurately and within the stipulated timeline.
