Job summary

Wah Seng Industry Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an experienced Account Executive to join our accounting team based in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. You will manage client accounts, ensure accurate bookkeeping, and provide strategic financial guidance in a small-practice setting.

You will work with our accounting software, prepare financial statements, and assist with tax compliance while maintaining confidentiality and professional standards to support client satisfaction and practice growth.

Qualifications

• Qualification in accounting or related field (diploma/degree/certification)
• 2–4 years’ bookkeeping experience in small practice
• Proficient with accounting software and MS Office
• Knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organization and time management

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain accurate financial records for multiple client accounts, including ledger entries, reconciliations, and transaction processing
• Prepare and review financial statements, trial balances, and other accounting reports in compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and balanced
• Liaise with clients to gather financial information, clarify discrepancies, and provide guidance on bookkeeping best practices
• Monitor client tax compliance and assist with the preparation of tax-related documentation and returns
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function
• Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive financial information in accordance with professional standards
• Support the development and maintenance of client relationships through professional communication and reliable service delivery

What we’re looking for

• A qualification in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field (diploma, degree or professional certification such as AAT, LCCI or equivalent)
• Proven experience in bookkeeping and small practice accounting, ideally with 2-4 years in a similar role
• Strong proficiency with accounting software platforms and Microsoft Office applications
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax compliance requirements
• Excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy when handling multiple accounts
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to priorities tasks effectively
• Professional communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and internal team members
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous professional development
• Knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations and local accounting practices is highly desirable
