Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in telecommunications, ISP, or mobile network operator (MNO) environments.
Technical Proficiencies
- Deep working knowledge of PON architectures (GPON, 10G-EPON, XGS-PON) and OLT management platforms.
- Hands-on experience deploying and commissioning Small Cell / HetNet solutions and baseband units.
- Solid understanding of mobile transport protocols (eCPRI, CPRI), radio access network (RAN) fundamentals, and backhaul aggregation.
- Proficiency in IP networking fundamentals: IPv4/IPv6 subnetting, QoS/CoS policies, VLANs, and Layer 2/3 transport.
- Familiarity with network test gear: OTDRs, optical power meters, spectrum analyzers, and Ethernet/10G-100G bit error rate testers (BERT).
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP Service Provider, Nokia NRS I/II, or equivalent carrier certifications.
- Experience with automated provisioning tools, NetConf/YANG, and network scripting using Python or Bash.
- Familiarity with Open RAN architectures and cloud-native network functions (CNFs/VNFs).
- Working knowledge of network synchronization standards (SyncE, PTP/IEEE 1588v2) across packet networks.

Key Responsibilities
- Access Network Deployment & Integration: Configure, commission, and maintain OLT platforms (GPON, XGS-PON, NG-PON2) and Optical Network Terminals/Units (ONT/ONU). Design, deploy, and integrate indoor/outdoor 4G LTE and 5G NR Small Cells, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and micro-cell nodes.
- Network Transport & Backhaul: Provision and troubleshoot mobile backhaul/fronthaul transport links connecting Small Cells to the Mobile Core (EPC/5GC). Manage Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), VLAN tagging (QinQ), and MPLS/Segment Routing implementations across access nodes.
- Performance Optimization & Operations: Conduct RF and optical link budget calculations, optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR) trace analysis, and power level tuning. Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including throughput, latency, jitter, frame loss, and handover success rates. Serve as Level 3 escalation support for chronic network outages, optical degradation, and RF interference issues.
- Vendor & Standards Coordination: Interface with hardware vendors (e.g., Nokia, Huawei, Cisco, CommScope, Ericsson) for firmware validation, patch deployment, and feature testing. Assist in testing and implementing Open RAN (O-RAN) interfaces, CWDM/DWDM mux systems, and timing/synchronisation protocols (IEEE 1588v2 PTP, SyncE).
