Job summary

MSCI is seeking an experienced commercial lawyer to join the Commercial Legal team as Vice President, Commercial Legal Counsel. You will move beyond contract review to become a trusted partner shaping how MSCI negotiates, commercializes and scales its data, technology and investment solutions.

You will negotiate complex technology, data and IP transactions, work with product and commercial leaders, and help modernize contracting at scale, including through automation and AI.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in commercial law.
• Qualified to practice in-house in New York.
• Strong negotiation, drafting and advisory skills.
• Experience handling technology, data or IP transactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations on sophisticated technology and data transactions, including licenses and services agreements.
• Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice aligned with commercial priorities.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to enable scale and efficiency in contracting.
• Develop and refine contract templates, clauses and playbooks for new products.
• Collaborate with global teams to drive contracting transformation and automation.
• Leverage AI and automation to improve the quality and speed of legal work.
