Job summary

Kohler Co. is seeking a VAVE Sr. Engineer - Packaging to lead cost-out projects onsite in Nuevo Sur, Mexico. You will perform value analysis, develop CAD concepts, and coordinate with global teams to improve packaging designs while ensuring compliance with regional standards.

You will use Windchill and SAP to manage BOMs and ECNs, collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams, and apply DFM principles to optimize cost, manufacturability, and sustainability goals at Kohler.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering.
• 2-4 years experience in cost reduction VA/VE and continuous design improvement projects.
• Ability to drive engineering-based solutions to complex problems.
• Knowledge of packaging material manufacturing processes (corrugated, honeycomb, pulp, films, wood, sustainable materials).
• DFM principles applied to packaging design.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost-out opportunity mining via Pareto analysis, benchmarking, and site visits.
• Apply VAVE methods to identify packaging cost reductions.
• Conduct total cost-benefit analyses and finalize annualized savings.
• Develop CAD concepts and verify designs through testing.
• Create/update BOMs, submit ECNs, and release designs in Windchill and SAP.
• Ensure packaging changes meet regional/global regulations and standards.
• Create/update internal packaging standards as required.

VAVE Sr. Engineer - Packaging

Work Mode: Onsite, Nuevo Sur

BASIC FUNCTION

Identify Packaging cost out opportunity in a target-oriented manner through VAVE methodology and total cost analysis. Work with cross functional teams to identify, analyze and execute cost reduction VAVE projects.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform cost out opportunity mining exercises by pareto analysis, competitor benchmarking and tear down, operations/distribution center site visits, etc.
• Apply VAVE methodologies and tools to identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Perform total cost benefit analysis and finalize annualized savings for given projects.
• Develop alternative design concept prototypes and CAD drawings using design software. Coordinate the development and verification testing of alternative designs.
• Create/update BOMs, submit engineering change requests and release the revised designs in Windchill and SAP.
• Work with cross functional teams to ensure packaging changes are compliant with regional/global packaging regulations, operations processes, internal packaging standards, sustainability goals, and customer requirements.
• Create/update internal packaging standards as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering
• A minimum of 2-4 years related work experience in execution of cost reduction VA/VE, Continuous Design Improvement projects.
• Demonstrated ability to drive solid engineering based solutions to complex problems.
• Proficient knowledge of manufacturing processes of all packaging material types such as corrugated, honeycomb, molded pulp, foams, films, wood, sustainable materials (reusable, recyclable, compostable).
• Basic knowledge of product materials and manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, ceramics casting processes, etc preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated expertise to apply DFM principles (manufacturability, assembly, safety, cost) to packaging design.
• Must have good communication skills to work globally with cross function teams.
• Fluent in English language.
• Proficient in ArtiosCAD, Adobe Illustrator, CAPE, PTC Creo Software & MS Office tools.
