Forvia seeks an TVO Engineering Leader to drive the division’s Total Value Optimization roadmap, collaborating with R&D, Purchasing, Program, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Operations to deliver engineering-driven savings without compromising quality or safety.

You will build and track a robust TVO/VAVE pipeline, lead problem solving, and share best practices across programs and sites to improve product competitiveness and business performance.

Formación

  • The candidate has a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 5+ years in automotive product development or serial-life engineering.
  • Experience leading cost-reduction initiatives (VAVE) and design-to-cost activities with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong financial understanding: cost drivers, savings forecasting, business cases, and budgets.

Your mission, roles and responsibilities

The TVO Engineering Leader leads the division’s Total Value Optimization roadmap in partnership with Engineering, Purchasing, Program, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Operations, and CBU teams. This role is responsible for building and tracking a robust TVO/VAVE pipeline, identifying and implementing engineering-driven cost optimization opportunities, supporting supplier and benchmark reviews, and ensuring savings are delivered without compromising product performance, quality, safety, reliability, or customer requirements. The position also drives cross-functional execution, problem solving, dashboard reporting, lessons learned, and best-practice sharing to improve product competitiveness and business performance across programs and serial-life products

Responsibilities:
  • Lead TVO Engineering activities across R&D programs and serial-life products, with focus on value engineering, cost optimization, product competitiveness, and annual savings delivery
  • Develop, maintain, and track the division’s TVO roadmap in collaboration with Engineering, Purchasing, Program, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Operations, and CBU teams to ensure alignment, execution, and savings delivery
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement VAVE and engineering change opportunities while preserving product performance, quality, reliability, safety, and customer requirements
  • Serve as the technical interface to Purchasing and TVO teams, supporting supplier VAVE proposals, benchmark reviews, design-to-cost analysis, and gap-to-benchmark activities
  • Coordinate cross-functional reviews with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Finance, Operations, Purchasing, and CBU teams to accelerate implementation
  • Build and maintain a robust TVO/VAVE pipeline by facilitating workshops, reviewing lessons learned, analyzing cost drivers, and transversalizing best practices across programs and sites
  • Monitor TVO dashboards, savings forecasts, implementation status, risks, blockers, and performance metrics; provide regular reporting to R&D and business leadership
  • Lead structured problem solving and root-cause analysis using methods such as 8D, A3, 5 Why, and DMAIC to resolve technical, quality, cost, and implementation issues
  • Support transfer from program development to serial life by capturing VAVE roadmaps, supplier cost breakdown inputs, yield data, make-or-buy opportunities, and design-to-cost actions
  • Promote continuous improvement in engineering processes, cost management, resource efficiency, and business performance
  • Capitalize knowledge and share best practices, lessons learned, and TVO standards across the organization and within the site
Your profile and competencies to succeed

Position Specifications:

Education / Experience
  • Minimum education level of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline
  • More than 5 years of engineering experience within the automotive industry, preferably in product development, serial-life engineering, cost optimization, value engineering, or operational excellence
  • Preferably experience leading cross-functional cost reduction, VAVE, product optimization, or engineering change initiatives in a global and customer-facing environment
Knowledge / Skills
  • Strong knowledge of TVO, VAVE, design-to-cost, technical productivity, cost reduction, and value engineering methodologies
  • Ability to evaluate product design, manufacturing process, supplier proposals, material yield, packaging, make-or-buy, and benchmark opportunities
  • Experience with automotive product development, serial-life engineering, engineering change management, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and quality systems
  • Ability to investigate problems and apply formal problem-solving techniques such as 5 Why, 8D, A3, and DMAIC
  • Strong financial acumen, including understanding of cost drivers, savings calculation, forecast tracking, business cases, and budget/resource utilization
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority and drive alignment across Engineering, Purchasing, Program, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Operations, and customer-facing teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with ability to lead technical reviews, management updates, workshops, and customer-facing discussions
  • Knowledge of seating products, trim, foam, mechanisms, frames, tracks, recliners, automotive seating applications, CAD review, GD&T, testing standards, and manufacturing constraints preferred
