A leading company in transportation systems is seeking a Fleet Manager in Cancún for the Tren Maya project. This role includes overseeing maintenance for trains, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and optimizing fleet strategies to ensure reliability and compliance with contract performance. The ideal candidate will possess an engineering degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in the railway industry.

Formación

  • Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance or production in the railway industry.
  • Experience with fleet operations preferred.
  • Strong IT skills, including use of office packages.

Purpose of the job

In the context of the Tren Maya project, ALSTOM is offering a high level of Maintenance Service for the Rolling Stock, Track systems (Signaling & Communication), and Maintenance facilities.

The fleet manager is focused on Rolling Stock activities and responsible for the following:

  • Ensure effective and efficient maintenance of the fleet 24 hours a day through work activities at the depots to deliver clean, available, reliable, and safe trains for service and operators.
  • Define & implement project fleet strategy to fit with customer contractual requirements.
  • Responsible for the project fleet availability.
Organizational Reporting
  • Reports directly to the Rolling Stock Maintenance Manager.
Team
  • 1 to 10 direct reports.

Responsibilities
Customer relation
  • Define & implement project fleet strategy to fit with contractual requirements & internal project targets.
  • Manage the day-to-day contact with Customer regarding provision of the Trains to commercial Service (by Alstom), as well as provision of the Trains to maintenance (by Operator).
  • Interface with the customer (operator). Interact strongly with other internal departments to ensure the contractual operational performance of the fleet (availability, service reliability) as well as meet internal targets (maintenance cost optimized via maintenance planning).
  • Support exceptional schedule changes in line with Commercial & Customer requirements.
  • Communicate fleet availability/performance and the production plan to all areas of the Business & Customer.
Operation
  • Prioritize work at the Depot to meet train availability requirements.
  • Develop and maintain interfaces with other functional areas within the business, in particular Operations, to improve efficiency and maximize capacity.
  • Set, monitor, and control planned maintenance, including outstanding defects, reliability, and safety checks.
  • Support Production team in organizing resources to ensure the production plan will be achieved. This includes the facility, materials, and labor.
  • Identify and manage risks across the service, including those arising from activities under our industry partners.
  • Support (through train provision) ongoing reliability programmes.
  • Schedule maintenance exams at the Depot in accordance with contract requirements to maintain high fleet availability.
  • Ensure sufficient time is allocated in the plan for preventative maintenance and repairs, considering Depot capacity.
  • React to train failures and infrastructure-related issues in conjunction with the Operator to minimize impact on the Production plan.
  • Ensure that any special/urgent requirements are considered.
  • Define the long-term plan.
  • Develop and maintain a forward plan identifying risks and opportunities to achieve availability targets.
  • Work with engineering to improve reliability and other contract measures within areas of control.
  • Consider engineering and safety issues, especially for trains movements within the depot.
Performance & Efficiency
  • Optimize strategy to balance operations workload and overall costs, within contract and safety constraints.
  • Maximize the productivity of depot plant and equipment, in collaboration with the Industrial team.
Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop the team of Fleet Engineers / Production Controllers.
  • Manage and control department budget.
Performance assessment (KPIs)
  • Manage the agreed Fleet KPIs for the customer.
  • Consistently achieve the availability target in line with contractual requirements.
  • Optimize train swaps.
Requirements
Educational Requirements

Engineering degree, in electrical or mechanical fields (ideally both).

Desired Knowledge / Experience
  • Experience of maintenance or production in the railway industry (minimum 5 years).
  • Ideally experience of fleet operations.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Management Information Systems (SAP, MAXIMO…).
  • Client-facing experience.
  • Knowledge of vehicle operating rules & procedures.
  • Knowledge of depot operating rules & procedures.
  • Good communication, report writing, and organizational skills.
  • IT skills – competent user of Personal Computer, including office packages, SAP (ideally Alstom tools including GSI and SES).
Job Location / Time / Mobility Requirements

The job is based in Cancún, QROO.

Depending on final organization, possibly supporting rotation on 2 shifts / 7 days.

Short business trips to other Alstom sites may be required, especially for training during the first months.
