Job summary

CPKC is seeking a railway operations supervisor to oversee train movements within an assigned territory, ensuring safety and efficiency while meeting service plans and KPIs. The role involves resource management, incident response, and coordination with commercial units to satisfy customer expectations.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 2+ years of supervisory experience, and a relevant bachelor's degree.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years supervisory experience in a fast-paced environment preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Transportation, Logistics, Business, General Studies or related field preferred.
• Experience managing employees under a collective bargaining agreement is a plus.
• Willingness to relocate within the KCS Railway operating system to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with defined operating practices and promotes a safe work environment.
• Manages the operational testing program by observing, documenting, and evaluating safe practices.
• Meets service plan goals by managing assets and costs, and reassigning resources as needed.
• Conducts regular employee meetings to emphasize safety and risk mitigation.
• Investigates incidents, determines root causes, and implements corrective actions.
• Manages resources and assets in a cost-effective manner.
• Serves as first responder to critical incidents when required.
• Makes recommendations regarding hiring and performance management of staff.
• Ensures execution to plan through defined performance expectations with service providers.
• Uses planning tools to proactively identify issues and coordinate solutions.
• Coordinates with commercial/customer solutions units to satisfy customer expectations.
• Demonstrates operational excellence and contingency planning to meet stakeholder needs.
