Job summary

Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corporation in Matamoros, MX, seeks a tooling technician to supply tools to Vipros/Laser, CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Haas Router, and Thermwood machines and to manage tool inventory for efficient model changeovers. The role supports a mid-sized, high-mix manufacturing environment and requires hands-on tooling experience.

You will work with measurement tools and maintain tooling systems, contributing to shop floor efficiency.

Qualifications

• Completed technical or high school diploma.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in tooling or a similar position.
• Basic office suite management and tooling inventory awareness.
• Experience with TOGU II (Stamping) equipment.
• Tool knowledge on Vipros/Laser AMADA machines, CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Haas Router, Thermwood.
• Knowledge of measuring tools: Vernier calipers, tape measure, plug gauge, ring gauge, micrometer.
• Knowledge of SHVWIP system and drawing interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Review dispatch at shift start/end, identifying orders to close.
• Check tool/fixture/metering equipment condition at shift changes.
• Supply tools to Vipros/Laser, CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Haas Router and Thermwood per production plan.
• Mount tools in holders and adjust height.
• Maintain and organize tool/fixture stock and inventory.
• Perform tool maintenance, sharpening, and repair.
• Replace damaged tools and generate requisitions as needed.
• TOGU II machine maintenance (Stamping).

Position Objective/Purpose: Supply the necessary tooling to Vipros/Laser, CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Haas Router, and Thermwood machines, and manage tooling according to inventory and by system for efficient model changeovers and optimized setup time. Develop and execute a strategic plan to support and continuously improve knowledge, skills, and the learning environment in a mid-sized, high-mix multinational engineering and manufacturing organization. Authorities: Refer to FMI-143 for individual standard operating procedures related to management system authorities/responsibilities. Main Responsibilities:

• Review dispatch at the beginning and end of shifts, identifying each order to be closed using the whiteboard as a work tool.
• Review the condition of the tool, fixtures, and measuring equipment at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Supply tools to Vipros/Laser, CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Haas Router, and Thermwood machines, and secondary operations according to the production plan.
• Mount tools in holders and adjust their height.
• Maintain, control, and organize tool and fixture stock/inventory.
• Tool maintenance, sharpening, and repair.
• Replace damaged tools and generate requisitions if necessary.
• TOGU II machine maintenance (Stamping). Competencies and skills: Weighting/Level: (1-Basic, 2-Intermediate, 3-Advanced, 4-Specialized)
• Completed technical or high school diploma.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the tooling area or similar position.
• Basic Office suite management
• Equipment management: TOGU II (Stamping)
